Live: using 2 instruments, one for pads, other for keys simultaneously

Sorry, I've searched extensively trying to find if able to use a midi controller that has pads(like mpk mini) to do drum/samples on pads and have another instrument for the keys simultaneously for live use. If possible, can someone explain or give me a link for instruction? Thanks!

    Not much to it. Get a powered USB hub and connect a 16 pad controller and a midi keyboard with Camera Connection Kit. Setup the midi in the midi settings. There are some advanced options on routing in midi setup area. Works very well. The iPad or iPhone will recognize multiple controllers if a hub is used.

    You'll have to setup individual channels for instruments to get the keys to work with keys and 16 pad controller to work with drum sampler.

    Like Midi channel 2 for key controller and another channel for drum pad controller.
