Pattern editing AU's

Im struggling to find a pattern editor whilst using an AU on a Pad (Beathawk for instance). In the pattern editor only Row 1 is used to show the pattern. Cannot see anything on the piano roll either So I can record the AU in by hand using the keyboard but no pattern sequencing or editing? Is this correct?

From sequencer view near the top-left of the sceeen where you would the current pattern for selected group.

Im in the pattern grid but all thew rows are empty with the exception of Row 1 beathawk

Tap at the top left where it says "playing song", you can see another view of your pattern lost.
