What's taking so long for the Audiobus update?

edited February 2013 in General
You guys promised Audiobus early last month, and even teased us with a few screenshots, but the update appears to be nowhere in sight, and we haven't even been updated on the situation!

Every other app is getting on the bus but BeatMaker 2. From Meteor to Auria, and even Steinberg announced Cubasis is getting on the bus next month. Meanwhile I'm stuck here with no ideal way to record all my Audiobus input apps, and BM2 doesn't even let me drag my files out of iTunes due to an error about some duplicate file name being specified, plus I can't even use the FTP feature or iFunbox because both give me errors. BM2 is borderline useless to me now, and no help from Intua.

Hope you guys release the update soon with Audiobus and the critical bug fixes BM2 is in desperate need of. Keep us updated!

    Hi !

Well, we are working closely with the Audiobus team has their initial implementation was not perfectly suited to work with our audio engine. We found a solution to the problem, and we are now waiting for the Audiobus team to update the SDK.

They are also pushing a new update for their app, which means more testing on both sides, and different priorities. It shouldn't be long before we'll submit, 1 or 2 weeks tops.

We'll make a more official announcement once we can provide a time estimation.
You will all enjoy this update, it's worth waiting !

    Cheers,
    Mathieu.

Thanks for the quick response and keeping us informed about the situation! Can't wait for the update. I believe BM2 will become the best app to use as an Audiobus output if implemented right.

Thanks so much for update Intua. This is very important to my workflow as I make the transition for normally doing my CD releases in Logic and moving to IOS and BM2. This will be instrumental to my success in this transition as copy/paste breaks my creative flow. I am completely use to building tracks within logic and modifying sounds accordingly to fit the arrangement process. I have started my new release and am anxiously awaiting this update in order to finish my first track. The ability to record external synths directly into BM2 tracks is critical as I like to shape my sounds to fit the track, mood and atmosphere. I love your product and consider it to easily be the best of breed in IOS. Once its Audiobus enabled, then enhancing the Mixdown capability should put this over the top.

Thanks for a truly professional DAW.

Despite many software developers becoming transparent with their operations, for whatever reason Intua decided not to be transparent. That is a choice they made and it should be respected.

Audiobus support is coming, it may not be today, tomorrow, or this week for that matter, but it is coming. Have a little faith, it will be here before we know it. When it is released, all this angst will seem foolish in hindsight.
  • Hello everyone,

The update has been submitted to Apple, so now it's a matter of days!
We've took a bit more time to improve the user experience when using Audiobus.

We have a very stable and straightforward integration, it was worth waiting a bit more.
In the meantime, here's the feature list of version 2.4.3:

► Add Audiobus support! BeatMaker 2 can send or receive audio to/from other apps!
✓ Monitor, record, apply effects, tweak input volume, apply noise gate from apps connected to Audiobus
✓ Audio tracks are created automatically when connecting new apps or starting a new project
✓ Control the sequencer from outside BeatMaker 2 with Audiobus trigger buttons
✓ Control the sample recorder from outside BeatMaker 2
► Virtual MIDI input apps are not active by default, only controllers are
► .midi files are now recognized
► ZIP files transferred via FTP or DropBox are now unzipped automatically
► Improvements of MIDI output timestamps
► Fix an issue that could occur after putting BeatMaker in background after using SoundCloud or Dropbox
► Fix an issue that could occur when adding a new instrument/effect while sending MIDI
► Fix sample navigation when zoomed to the maximum
► Fix behavior of MUTE/SOLO buttons on the mixer
► Fix a bug that could occur when previewing very small portion of a sample in streaming
► Fix reading of float AIFF files in streaming mode
► Other stability and UI improvements

    Cheers!
    The Intua team.
