I'm looking for a book or guide on basic digital beat making such as how to learn the components and how to start making beats. Something that breaks down a beat and a how to, step-by-step is you will. You could even throw in the basics of how music works too..

Would anybody have any recommendations?

    This is a very broad matter, I would suggest YouTube, or taking a beatmaking online course at Lynda, or pyramind...etc. purchasing beatmaker2 was a decent start in making beats, as it can get you started really well. The beatmaker2 manual is really easy to use and has pic examples...there are lots of bm2 videos as well
