How do I use the same pattern with multiple plugins?

Presently, I am trying to play the same pattern to two different AU plugins. I have tried to layer plugins onto one pad, but it appears that you can't do that, though I could layer samples (or plugin+samples). I have also tried to see if there is a way to have the same pattern play two pads in the same bank at once (each pad containing a different plugin), but I can't find the function that would allow me to do that. I feel like this is pretty basic stuff and I MUST be missing a very easy way to do this.

    I think the easiest way is to put the pads in the same link group.
