Gaming team building
Every time we do a team-building day, it ends up being some variation of workshops, icebreaker questions, and maybe a group lunch. It’s fine, but it feels like everyone’s just going through the motions. I’m looking for something that makes people actually want to participate — something with a bit of competition, laughs, and maybe a storyline to keep it interesting. Has anyone tried turning a team-building day into a proper game?

We were in the same boat until last year, when we booked a murder mystery team building activity. It completely changed how our group interacted. Everyone had a role to play, and you couldn’t just sit in the background — you were part of the story. The mix of humor and problem-solving made people work together naturally, without feeling like they were being “forced” to bond. Honestly, it was one of the few team-building events people were still talking about months later.
I’ve noticed that when team activities feel like actual fun instead of mandatory work exercises, people are way more relaxed. I once joined a trivia competition with my coworkers, and the energy was so different compared to our usual meetings. A good game can really break down those workday barriers.
