Lawn turned yellow after the rains - what to do?

Hello everyone. After the last rains I noticed that my lawn began to yellow. In places there were plots where the grass seemed to rot. I try not to flood, but apparently the water does not leave the soil. Maybe it is the drainage system or the seeds themselves? Want to return the rich green color. Who has encountered - tell me how to restore the grass after re-wetting and choose a resistant variety?

  • Perhaps the problem is not only in the water, but also in the type of grass. Common varieties poorly tolerate moist and warm soil. I would recommend looking at grass seed. Its root system is deep, so even after heavy rains it quickly recovers. Before sowing, pluck the soil well and make a small layer of sand for drainage. In couple of weeks you will notice the difference - the grass becomes denser and greener.

  • I used to have similar problem: after the rain, the lawn literally "drowned". Then I moved to Bermuda and everything stabilized. This grass really does recover quickly, even if the area is temporarily flooded. The main thing is not to cut too low until it becomes stronger. And also - try to reduce the frequency of watering when it rains regularly. The grass should breathe.
