Ok now that I played with this amazing software for a couple of days I can put my wishlist now.
1. Ability to make paterns as long as you wish.Or at least 2 or 3 bars.
2. Renaming the patterns. It is getting really annoying when you make 13 or more patterns and you are searching for the bass for Example.
3. Ability to change the lenght of multiple pads at once. When for example I load the same psample on two or more pads and it is too long.Currently I can only change the pitch and the volume at once.
4. Abilyty to move the pattern freely in the song sequencer mode.I mean not puting it exactly on the 1st bar but maybe between 1st and 2nd.
5. Managing the follders and files on the ipod.I mean moving some files from one folder to another.
This should be enough for me as a beginning.Of course there is more on my list ,but this software is still too young.Of course it will grow up

Yes, a keyboard and loop points for samples to complement the start and end points. Great for lo-fi synth playing on the keyboard. Eg. looping a short buzz in the middle of the synth sample when it has played the whole wave one time.
Yesterday my ipod got frozen. After a try to reboot it got stuck to the apple logo.I tried many ways to force it to start without restoring it but nothing helped.Ive read somewhere that this should be a bug in the current FW.Now I lost all of my kits and projects Iwish I`ve made backups but I didnt So here comes number 6 in my wishlist:
6. A way to sync all of the content (kits, projects, exports) with beatpack at once.
7.And one more.Exporting a wave should not export the metronome (when you forget to turn it off)
I just purchased BeatMaker is it is awesome. I'm glad someone started a thread like this because the only thing that I think is missing a piano/keyboard option. Oh man...if it had this, the possibilites would be endless. As the software stands now, it's strictly a tool to make beats, as the name states, that is all this is intended for, but adding a piano/keyboard option would allow for users to create FULL-FLEDGED songs right out of the gate. I think you would see an amazing amount of songs being churned out.
So, again we need piano/keyboard option!! PLEASE INTUA, PIANO/KEYBOARD OPTION! PLEASE INTUA, PIANO/KEYBOARD OPTION! PLEASE INTUA, PIANO/KEYBOARD OPTION! PLEASE INTUA, PIANO/KEYBOARD OPTION! PLEASE INTUA, PIANO/KEYBOARD OPTION! PLEASE INTUA, PIANO/KEYBOARD OPTION! PLEASE INTUA, PIANO/KEYBOARD OPTION!
Intua if you are listening and I know you are.
Would it be to hard to include sampling to pads from built in mic.
I would love to see this feature. I am out and about alot and it would be cool to make beats drawing sounds from wherever I may be. This could be the roland sp killer .
Anyways I appreciate all the hard work on this killer app.

The thing about this is that it leaves the iPod touch users behind as they don't have a mic on their device. It would also sound like absolute rubbish due to the quality of the iphone mics available. It seems like it would take quite a lot of programming and leave a lot more room for instability for something that would be more of a novelty than a helpful feature to enhance it's professional abilities. Not that I'm against it, I just think there are more important features to be added.
....Ability to sample and chop mp3 on the ipod or iphone. (Would be the best thing ever!!)....
Apple does not allow apps to access the mp3's on your phone, that will probably never happen, though it would be cool, I'd still WAY rather use .wavs than .mp3s due to the sound quality.
I'm voting microphone based sampler (would love to use a 1/8" splitter and battery powered condenser mic!), and piano control. Have I mentioned how much I am into this thing yet?!

Now you're talking! Still have to use the iPhone's preamp and converter though.
1. I find the start stop - tabs kind of difficult to use and they seem to not be saved with the project.
2. Zoom in and out by pinching in the Sequencer window to get a bigger view.
3. It would be nice to have the ability to split the sequencer window (like in excel) so if I have a lot of tracks up and down I can see track I am adding samples against above the one I am working on and be able to see the bar counter. A vertical split would be nice but not as nessessary.
It may be that some of these things are already in there and I have not figured them out yet.
Repeating what has been said before (in order of preference):
exporting MIDI (so I can create a beat in the park or on a train/plane, and then take it to the studio and be able to continue working on the groove)
I'd love to be able to record audio (I wouldn't care about the low audio quality, but it would be a good way to make a note of a melody line when out of the studio than hoping I'll remember it)
I'd love a virtual keyboard, but that wouldn't be so essential as the previous 2 requests.
Gotta say, this has gotta be the killer app for iPhone for me.
I've already said this but I have to say it again because it would make this software a perfect 10.
Virtual keyboard - this would make things open up so much. The possibilites would become endless. At the moment, you can't really create melodies, therefore limiting creation of a "song." The beats are awesome and lend themselves perfectly as a foundation for really good melodies. If a virtual keyboard were implemented, you could even load your own sounds into each key of the keyboard. Man, that would be so amazing.
1) From an rock musician point of view, I think that midi files are important. If I could make my beats on the phone, then export as MIDI instead of only WAV, I could then "adjust" the beat on the computer as needed.
2) To be able to record several patterns in sequence. For example, instead of recording pattern 1, then pattern 2, then pattern 3 and then putting it together... I would like to be able to continue recording and have patterns created while I record, this would allow me to record 4 bars at once for example, but they would each be a separate pattern. This will allow easy drum recording over an existing sound, I could play a guitar sample or recording and then create drums for it as it plays. Simply play the music on another device, or bring it in for one of the pads, then let it play while I create drum patterns to match my sample or recording.
3) To be able to have higher resolution for things like double bass. Should be able to zoom in to a deeper level of the sequencer to allow micro changes, instead of using the groove section for the human feel, I could zoom in and move the midi locations to slightly left or right of the beat. Increased resolution.
4) The ability to record into the phone, with the mic jack or built in mic. Then I could lay down the track immediately with guitar or vocals etc. Create the drums with feature #2 listed above.
5) To increase the size of the samples, I try to load large samples such as a 5 minute guitar track, and the whole phone resets ungracefully.
Definitely my wish list, all those things would make this as useful as my studio in terms of demos.
First of all, Beatmaker is one of the top reasons I bought an iPod Touch and I have not been disappointed.
I agree with many of the feature requests mentioned so far.
My main ones, in rough order of priority, are:
Sample
panning (this is the most important "effect" needed) MIDI export Multibar patterns
Sequencer bar insertion (and copy-paste) Zooming in and out in sequencer AND zooming in on the pads (i.e. fewer but bigger pads) Keyboard (even if just to play the same sample at different pitches)
Different tempos [/list:u]
One thing that I think would be really useful, but that would require a lot of work would be to be able to zoom the pads to just 2x2 (or 3x2 if the whole screen was used) and be able to assign parameters like pitch, volume and panning to the X and Y axis of the pads. This would allow a lot of variation to be created on the fly.

Just thought some more must have features. Truncate(to get rid of unused portions of samples to conserve memory) Page scrolling in Song Sequencer and markers to jump through large portions of the song. It would be nice to rename loaded samples and copy samples from pad to pad.It gets old having to navigate a bunch of windows to reload the same sample 4 or 5 times. And last, resampling or offline processing samples or sequences through the effects and reassigning them to a pad. That would open up a whole lot of creative cans of worms. I really love this App. My next project will feature a bunch of tracks made with BeatMaker.
It would be nice to rename loaded samples and copy samples from pad to pad.It gets old having to navigate a bunch of windows to reload the same sample 4 or 5 times.
When I swap/add addional samples I save the new pad with the name of the project in the same folder as the project (not where it was in the kits folder that leaves my origional kits). That way the new samples are all saved in the "new" pad when
When I load I go into Folder "X" load lot "X" and then project "X" the folder kit and project share the same name and all the unique samples for that project are intact.
I think that is what you are asking, but you may be asking for a feature that beyond my limited knowledge. In any case am thought I might throw this out there.
Thanx Isd25 but, we're talking 2 different things. Because there's no way to make melodies from 1 pad, you have to load the same sample to different pads and assign different pitches to the pads. It would be a lot easier and quicker to be able to copy from pad 1 to pad 2 instead of having to go through all the menues to find where the sample is stored. And then be able to rename the individual samples once there loaded onto the pads. For example, the original file is named C minor. Once its loaded into the kit and pitched up a step, I'd like to rename it D minor to reflect the new pitch. By the way,is it just me or is it hard to adjust the velocity and groove. I'm always grabbing two rows and having to spend time readjusting the row I didn't mean to move.
a suggestion for BeatPack: if I could select 16 files in Finder, just drag and drop them ALL in to BeatPack, and have those 16 samples go in the 16 pads, that would be easier.
Looping for me would be the most important, and if you could import Recycle RX2 files, my life would be complete.
A keyboard would be nice if you could take one sample and play it like an instrument.
A basic soft synth capable of producing a decent bass/synth lead/pad.
more FX
Bonjour support would be nice, but it really isn't too hard to access BeatPack via typing in the local address (mycomputer.local)
While we're on fantasy: Refill support, if there is a softsynth - an arpeggiator, etc...
Too bad Apple has restricted the access to the hardware, just think of the possibilities if you could use a device like M-Audio Trigger Finger/Akai MPD24/32!!!
Just bought Beat Maker last night, I had been waiting until BeatPack came out, and I love it so far, this is BY FAR the most advanced iphone app interface, and the developers at Intua have done an amazing job, any one trying to come out with a competitor will have their work cut out for them. I am looking forward to seeing/hearing new features!
EDIT: also what if you could access your music library and sample right out of those songs!!!
EDIT2: I keep thinking of more: use accelerometers as others have mentioned, but use it to control fx, filters etc... and OH sample previews before loading to pad!
I found that last night, its the icon on the right hand side when you're in a menu with wavs...
OK I was working on the new kit last night and thought of some great features which would be pretty easy to implement for the developers but would help greatly not in playing or creating music, but in managing files etc.
1) Allow Beatpack to run as a service so others can connect at anytime to the running server and share files
2) Allow password protection so the share that beatpack presents is not accessible by ALL.
3) Allow the beatmaker server to be in read only mode
This would allow me to publicize my beatmaker install, put all my beats on the server, and anyone with an internet connection can type in my server and download all my beatpacks. I could limit them from uploading kits on my server by making it read only. I could limit users by allowing only passwd controlled entry. Later maybe even base the permissions on the user or login. A simple passwd is good enough for now, but control over users would be nice. This would open a new door as you could simply type in beatpack servers and have access to several patterns, loops, beatkits etc.
I have already set this up on my home server so feel free to use it.
Type the following in beatmaker to "download" (uploading has been disabled). This will be a good test if your having connection problems of your own, if this server works you know the problem isnt on the beatmaker side, it must be on the PC side of things. I can get to this server from anywhere I have net access.

If you want your pack added to the list, let me know!
Yeah I kinda agree on the previous post. I miss alot of stuff i expected to be in there after reading the reviews.
Honestly, i'm kind of disappointed with this app. The whole idea is nice, but i miss tons of options. Also the amount of possibilities are very limited.
After making my own set with BeatPack it seems a little better, atleast i can play with samples i like. But i miss an analogue synth, tons of effects (like reverb (not just one posible setting but different ones) chorus, proper distortion, multi band graphical EQ, envelope filter (in case of the analogue synth), unison, phaser, compressor/limiter, chaos pad, the posibility to assign fx to samples (send or insert fx (keep mixing them up)), a clear sequencer that isnt based on patterns that are "stuck" for example if i want to program a 4/4 beat with a change of beat every somany steps it would allow that on the same lane, not a new lane thus making alot of junk in the project. Then there's the sound its way to low in volume for a good headphones.
Heck i could go on for another hour prolly, but i think everyone gets my point. Also i am rather disappointed about the use of the iPhones native posibilities, for example you could have made it possible to have a rack view in portrait mode, and a sequencer in landscape, then you could have made the portrait mode so that is would be possible to use flicks to switch between the instruments in the rack..

export tracks as individual wav files so that we can mix them in our desktop computer...
MUTING AND SOLOING tracks while in secuencer mode.
6. A way to sync all of the content (kits, projects, exports) with beatpack at once.
7.And one more.Exporting a wave should not export the metronome (when you forget to turn it off)
-ability to draw notes on step sequencer
-faster and further scrolling in song sequencer, when swiping fast
-name and order edit for patterns
-pitch editor in step sequencer
-visual indication of which pads are being used while playing a pattern
-option to export one self contained project that includes samples, kits, sequencer info etc.
-beatpack could contain a desktop version of beatmaker and be used to organise and edit projects, then sync to beatmaker.
-an area on the the intua website to upload projects, kits etc
