Signs a Session Worked

After my last session, I walked out feeling calm, but then I started second-guessing myself later that evening. Was that calm actually a sign that it worked, or was I just enjoying the quiet moment? Sometimes I expect some obvious shift, other times it’s more subtle and hard to describe. I’m curious how others tell the difference. How do you personally know when a session was really “on point” and not just a nice pause in the day?

For me, it’s rarely about one big feeling right after. When I first read through Reiki in London, what stuck with me was the idea that sessions are meant to meet you where you are, not produce a specific reaction. The best sessions I’ve had showed themselves later — I’d notice I was reacting less emotionally to small stresses, or my body felt looser the next morning. If something shifts without me forcing it or overthinking it, that’s usually how I know it helped.

  • I once noticed how people leaving different wellness spaces tend to move a little differently afterward. Some slow their pace, others seem more focused, like their thoughts are less scattered. Even without knowing what they just did inside, you can sense a change in how they carry themselves. Those quiet, almost invisible shifts are easy to miss, but they often say more than dramatic reactions or big emotional moments.
