Desparately looking to jump ship...
the only thing that has me coming back and checking the site every single day, is to hear ANY update info on the progress of the iPad version. anything kind of insight to a time frame... or any new features being worked on (if any) would be amazing.
the news that the ipad version would take advantage of the screen size and processing power was so wonderful. (i wasnt a member on the site when that was annouced)... but anywho...

The simple fact of the matter is, it takes less than five bloomin' minutes to update users, customers, loyal advocates of the software, as to what, if anything, is coming down the line. And if there is nothing, don't be a chickens**t, just say, "its had its day" or "we are working on other projects".
Say something at least.
There is no valid argument for silence, especically if intua can patently see what this forum is turning in to.
Look, take down the forum in that case, as it only serves as a stagnant pool of discontentment.
At this point, it's not helping them and it's certaintly not helping us.
people would rev it badly.
anyway, i like you, got an iPad as quick and excitingly as i did for what i feel can be/will be/ and is already becoming the ultimate PORTABLE music producution platform out.
also, like you, everytime i see that little update indicator over the app store, i'm hoping its a beatmaker upgrade. (though i can't imagine them updating the app without some type of notice here on the site first).
i almost have my iPad musi. production setup complete.
i have StudioTrack for my multitrack recording/mixing. (a superb iPad music app)
IK multimedia is releasing the iRig which will allow me to plug instruments directly into the ipad for highezt recording quality (and micrphones if the connection end is right)...
i have Audioview for transferring music i create on my desktop, to my iPad, to the StudioTrack app for recording.
now all i am waiting on is an ultimate music creation app that supports either the general pasteboards or sonoma's audiocopy so i can make great electronic music/beats on the iPad and transfer to StudioTrack for recording.
BeatMaker is so close... and it is the best out there period, hands down on iphone, but for iPad... there isn't anything really anything out there looking to be a grade A music sequencer/ beat maker. all of the apps i have seen have the dots you press in to indicate where a note takes places. im a hands on type of guy. i need to literally play what i hear in my head right there on the spot, in one record round. incant get down with that "place each note in one at a time" mess. and the iSequence app is not cutting it.
when intua brought in the tune roll pad to work with recording, which i discovered a few weeks ago when i got my iPad, i finally was able to appreciate BeatMaker. i believe their iPad version is going to be exactly what i'm looking for... i just dislike the lack of verbal (lol) updates on either a time frame or any kind of new features to expect... anything is better than nothing.
i believe they working hard... i believe they want to suprise us... i do think that we can be a bit impatient, but i also believe there is only so long we can wait patiently for a product without any form of pressence from someone working on the product.
not sure what my point is. im just saying...
"if you ask me, i'm reeeady"
and i dont think anyone is "crying"..., just simply voicing thoughts on the whole communication deal. this is a forum... and being that there hasnt been any announcements or insight on anything or time frame, if any, it should be no suprise that discussions like this have come about.
i love intua & beatmaker. i'm just in the crowd with those who would like to hear more about whats going on, if a time frame is not available. for me, concerning the ipad version of beatmaker, its less about being impatient, and more about being assured.
However a MPC killer this will never be. It just lacks far too many features to compete with a actual sampler/drum machine/sequencer. That and the hardware limitations will come in to play. Don't get me wrong, this could be a great little app for doodling down ideas while on the move. But for it to be even that it still needs some basic functions to be added. But a MPC killer? If far more capable devices such as the NI Maschine have yet not managed to do so, why would BM? I'd much rather sample straight from vinyl into my 2000XL in the studio then use this thing... It just lacks too much. With the few added features it would atleast be passable for a sketchpad. But as it is now
Not everyone wants to sample, but for this scenario (and for the the fact that BM largely draws from the MPC style of making beats) assume you would like to. So what is one to do.. You would first have to record the sample from what ever source into your computer. then you would need to chop it up in a audio editor keeping in mind that you will need to save pad space for drums and bass samples aswell. Then make it all into a BeatPack upload that to your Ipod/Iphone.
Would it not be faster more productive to be able to just import a audio chunk and use the BM's built in capabilities to chop it up on the pads and to utilize cut groups so you would not have to pre chop everything to fit? Would it not be even nicer if you could do 16 levels on your first pad bank and then load some drums on the second one?
Ok so you managed to do something with it, now how are you going to use what you just did. Right let's track it out..oh wait no you cannot do that either. Well you can but it will involve alot of fiddling and you will not be doing so using midi sync.
Would it not be nicer to just be able to export patterns (or virtual mixer tracks) to separate wav files?
It's not like we are asking for the sky and the stars.
My simple list is:
- Mute Groups.
- Pad Banks (even one more would be enough).
- Virtual mixer channels or something in that style to allow exporting of separate wav stems. (And this is not a deal breaker, just a nice to have feature. As it is now you can still export your tracks but as I said earlier it is not that fast or simple to do.)
We don't need more evolved hardware, what we have is plenty for these simple features. A 20 year old sampler will do everything BM does + a whole lot more. Nobody is questioning if it can be done, we are simply asking if it will be done and if so when. The developers in the mean time don't seem to care enough to give any sort of answers.
If you want to compare Ipad apps to hardware tools, fine but do so understanding the pros and cons of both. iPad is a piece of hardware that contains a software operating system, so is a MPC or any other piece of hardware. Apples hardware unit cannot really be uppgraded to better specs by the user, so you will have to buy a new one if you wan to upgrade the hardware. Same with MPC's and other hardware. See where we are going with this? So why not just get a iPad and have it all? Without getting too much into detail, hardware samplers were built to do music production with. They have AD converters, input and output options, the whole OS tailor made for the task at hand. iPads were made for surfing and to read ebooks with. They don't have sound convertors, multiple outputs, flash card readers, midi sync etc. Could this possibly explain the price difference? Apples platform is a closed one and will evolve as they see fit or when the competition forces them to do so.
My post was not about kissing any particular software or hardware vendors ass. It was about having the functionality I want in a app I currently own. It was about most the users in these forums asking for the same things and the devs keeping their mouths shut.
If you want to base your production setup around a iPad, then that's fine by me. But don't start shoving your religion down other peoples throats. Most of just want a sketchpad app to use on our phones or ipods while on the road, and for this the BM could be a great app. However it still needs work before it can be that great app.
I'm fully aware of the fact that you can chop in BM (again, you might want to read my post once more). However I'd much rather record my samples with a decent set of tools instead of a mono mic input jack that is available on the devices. I would also like the freedom to use and play my samples in other ways then beatmatching them and chopping up in bars. (and yes I'm aware of the fact you can set a note where you want the sample to stop and set it at 0 velocity to make it happen. But that seriously slows down the workflow). Oh and would it not be grand to able to chop it up over 16 pads and still able to use other sounds?
You saying NI cannot further their Maschine due to the hardware aspect already shows what you know or choose to aknowledge about things. Just a FYI the Maschine is software the hardware part is just a midi controller and they have made numerous updates to the software already, the latest being the 1.5 version of it. The hardware is just a tactile way of controlling the software without having to stare at the screen. Very much like the case is with Akai's Synth Station and it's dedicated controller. Or Sonar and it's midi counterpart, or Cubase and it's controller unit, or NI KORE and...
Again, this is not a MPC killer or the killer of any other good piece of hardware. It is not the replacement for Cubase and Protools or any other DAW. It is just a piece of software for a portable device that we all would like to function a tad bit better.
I'm done beggin for attention from the devs. Unlike some, this is not my chosen production platform, it was a app I saw potential in and wanted to try out and maybe someday something great will come out of this promising app. But for now posting in here and pickering amongst ourselves is a tad pointless.
StudioTrack is a gem.
Reforge and Audioview are excellent bridging apps from transfering music or editing wav parts if needed.
BeatMaker is a great iphone/ipod touch sequencer. Intua has stated they are working on an iPad version that will take advantage of the screen and processing power...
all that is left to complete my MOBILE iPad music production setup is an outstanding beat making app... and i beleiev that BeatMaker for iPad will be that app.
just looking for some form of insight. i feel like a broken record. gotta love it.
Sure their sample based beats but the artist that ripped them loved em( By the way I'll be posting those songs as soon as the artist give me the go ahead) I'm a wuss but your the one whining(in a girls voice) and saying and I quote" Basically, as soon as anyone makes an app where I can sample in my own sounds like BM, I'll never touch BM again" Don't just write a post about not using Beatmaker just don't use Beatmaker if your that mad about it. But your not gonna do that cause you love Beatmaker, your life revolves around it. Your obsessed. Now you can't get what you want when want it so you cry about it. You also said and I quote "Thirdly, I do have a lot of programmers in my camp. You ain't said nothing but a word." Phuck outta here if you don't have real programmers. If you do then like I said before use them to make another Beatmaker. You know what you can call it -Trackmaker- yeah or better yet -The Beatmaker The original Beatmaker Should Have Been-. But seriously bro all I'm saying is if you owned a business and your customers enjoyed what you had to offer for awhile then complained knowing possibly your working on something better for them you would probably feel like damn don't you appreciated what Ive done so far. And maybe I'm just stating this because I've had what I consider a little success as far getting some of my music out there. At the end of the day Intua isn't going to rush for you, me or anyone else
Quit getting all uptight and just wait. In fact the date the new BeatMaker 2 app is going to be released is........
he spent his $20 bucks just like you and i did... he is a consumer just like you and i... and this forum is here for us all...
i don't think it is too much at all to want a little announcement or acknowledgement ever so often, nor do i think its being unappreciative of the makers of the product voice those matters. in a way, its a variation of customer service.
as far my stance, im just so excited about the iPad version of BeatMaker, that im dying for any news on it, and this was the thread i could voice that in...
also, i understand where others may come from, loving the app, being content enough to wait without making noise about an update on a timeframe or features...
as with most products, everyone is not going to be content with everything... so for those who are more than past ready for some type of announcement or time frame on future products or updates that have been announced to come out.
its just a form of excitment, anticipation, and maybe frustation. haha.
love.
In short, I feel like more than anything else, I have this to say to Intua.
I know you are rolling in dough. Im sure you are loving your success. Im proud to say I purchased your product and supported that, because BM is truly revolutionary.
But what I really think this community deserves, I mean I really do.
Is just your input. I am askibg for nothibg more than that. Sure, there are plebty of things you can add to BM. Honestly, from what i know, theres a 50 percent chance you are actually working on BM, or a 50 percent probability your not. Either way, I really,REALLY, think that you guys or guy, need to get your head straight.
If you dont wake up and realize how hungry everyone is intua, someone sure as fuck is. And you will lose the momentum you have, which btw, is already falling.
I thought that dropping the proce would be a sign of progress. Instead, i think im realizing that it was only a sign of it ending.
The saddest thing to me isnt that we wont get updates for bM, or that you are going to fall off sooner than later.
The saddest thing is that you wont Even acknowledge that you read this, if you ever do.
That is why I personally, have just stopped promoting this app. Im done promoting a dead end.
Im only now just going to explain every damn corner of it.
Thanks again though, it was a good run.
Hopefully your next app, if its ever out, will actually be well maintained and updated.
So sad man.. So damn sad how this was handled.
We understand your frustration, and as we already announced on this forum we are working on BeatMaker 2 which is a completly new application.
The good news is: we are currently finishing it.
It has been a very long development period for an iPhone application simply because it goes much further than any other application in its category. We will post screenshots and information about BeatMaker 2 as soon as possible.
Thank you for your suggestions and support,
Intua Team.
PS: The forum is a place for users to share their experiences about BeatMaker, where we do post from time to time. If you need to address us a specific question, please contact us at: support@intua.net
however, is this new BM going to be itouch capable? or is it all iPad
