Too Much Freedom
We recently gave our 13-year-old a little more freedom with her phone, and that's when I realized how much online activity happens outside a parent's view. She found some disturbing videos through a completely normal search and didn't know how to report them. What guides, tools, or parenting resources would you recommend for keeping children safer from inappropriate content, cyberbullying, and strangers online?

Same exact thing happened with my nephew, innocent search led him straight to something he had no clue how to handle, just froze and closed the tab instead of telling anyone. Turned out he'd been sitting on it for days too scared to bring it up. We ended up using uMobix to get alerts on stuff like that going forward, paired with actually walking him through how to report and block content himself so he isn't just relying on us catching it after the fact. Tools help but teaching them to act matters more.
Really appreciate this perspective. My friend's son had a similar experience when a normal search suddenly brought up something inappropriate, and he was too embarrassed to mention it. We focused on making sure he knew he wouldn't get in trouble for telling us, then showed him how to block and report content himself. They also used umobix.com as an extra alert system, but I agree that the real goal is helping kids feel confident enough to act instead of quietly carrying the problem around.
