Yeah! I mean they made an app that sequences .wav files for a piece of kit originally designed to sequence .mp3 files. Am I the only one that sees this irony
BeatMaker is the most advanced iPhone app at the moment simply because there is nothing else available other than the another toy for iPhone called Band. In my eyes and at this stage of development, BeatMaker is nothing more than simple drum machine with user editable sounds (samples). It is not a music production studio, it is definitely not a synthesizer and not even musical instrument... It is just what it's name says - BeatMaker...

Boy, you have a lot to learn
About what exactly? Ahh, You mean how to trigger 16 samples using 16 trigger pads creating 1 bar loops and than sequencing them all together ..?
I think that after 18 years of (computer/midi based) studio and live work I have learned that task already...
BTW; Chill out guys and don't go on the offensive every time someone points out limitations of BeatMaker.
I love BeatMaker to death and accept it just for what it is (and for what it isn't). After all, this is just $20 app running on mobile phone not fully fledged $800 DAW..., but hey, there is always room for improvement...
I think that the point is that Beatmaker is getting comparisons to real hardware and computer software shows how good it is.
I have had severial phones palm based and a current blackberry for work. Getting a feeble game of brickbreaker going was the most fun I was going to have or seeing websites badly formatted.
Beatmaker is not a MPC...yet but it the most creative musical fun I have had on a phone.
I want to go to the Akai forum and say that Akai should add a good phone feature and internet browsing to a MPC and reduce the size a bit to fit in my pocket.

I feel you... This app has so much potential though. For the time being, its a great way for me to create great ideas to build upon once I hit the studio.... I can't find anything negative to say about BeatMaker.
If you're a professional attempting to create a full-blown production, and you're complaining about BeatMakers limitations, you should put your MPC on your hip and see how that works out... LOL
I'm totally stunned by this app. I have been a producer since '97 and finally feel like I did the first time I used an AKAI S1000 to sample an old Oscar Peterson lick; like the future has finally arrived! When this app lets people load samples from the mic on the phone, I think it will be the biggest secret weapon in the industry - but not for long!
I simply cannot believe that this is version 1.0.1 I'm ridiculously giddy.

...Which is pretty much what it says on the tin. I dont see what the fuss is. Everone wants to see piano keyboards and virtual monosynths which I can understand but I like what BeatMaker does and ask that it evolves to do what it does the best it can. There is only so much functionality you can squeeze into a small interface before it becomes unusable.

Yep, and thats no major revolution. The concept is as old as the hills (or perhaps hip hop). A lot of peolpe are quick to write off games as simple but I think that is just because they are more prevalent. I think the complexity would be increased with the inclusion of greater FX and sample editing facilities and that would take BeatMaker to the next level.
BeatMaker is many things to many pleple and only Intua know where it will end up. One thing is for sure. Its got us all having fun with music and having a good old debate
Hey Lupetto74, if You decided to quote me please do so, but insert it all and don't take my phrases out of context please...

On the flip side...
