Non-destructive chop gone in BM2

edited February 2011 in General
Can anyone tell me if non-destructive chop is gone in BM2? I tried editing the start and end of a sample and it forces you to save the sample before returning back to the instrument. In BM1 I could have the same sample on multiple pads with different slices.

I'm 78% sure that this is what the new chop lab is for, but I haven't played with it a ton... otherwise, you can click "Save As..." after editing and save the updated copy.

Yeah unfortunately it's gone, a real sad loss as this not only saved memory but also meant you could play with a chop and come up with something you weren't initally aiming at... such is life I guess?

But I gotta say this thing is incredible, it's better than a lot of hardware and I'm including current stuff aswell!

I may be confused, but are you talking sample editor or chop lab here? Because in te sample editor you can delete any part of the sample and simply save as something else. Please clarify, maybe I can figure it out.

Yeah i miss that too <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( --> damm shame, i hope they're will consider putting it back into the sample editor(not chop lab), its a pain having to save and re-save all the time (and take up extra memory on your idevice).

@ scythe - in BM1 you could load a sample onto a pad set the start and end points of the sample and just go back to the pad(s) and start playing, in BM2 you have to edit the start and end points then save as (so as not to overwrite the original loop/sample) then name the sample and save it somewhere before you can return to playing the pads. alot more steps/hastle involved. Yeah i know we have chop lab, but some times you just want to load up a sample/loop see how it sounds against you music then edit the start/end points to fit, and carry on playing, without have to keep saving all the time. Same thing that NS does and it's a pain in the arse.

Come to think of intua any chance we could have it for chop lab to? like i say most of the time you just want to try things out see it works or not, but having to save the chop as a preset all the time, you can end up having a folder with a hell of a lot of files that you just will not use. but once you find something you like and that works then you can save it as a chop preset.
so i.e, load a loop into chop lab, set bpm, set number of chops undo redo untill you find what you like then click ok and it take you back to the pads, then if you like it return to chop lab (mabey it could open on the last file you used) and then save as preset, something along those lines anyway. not quite sure how it would work but....

    Cheers

    P.s
It is not that important as chop lab is great as it is, but it would be time/memory saving and damm usefull.
