If you get BM2, do you still have BM1?

i want to know before i buy if BM1 is recognized as a separate app on my iphone when i go to update to the new BM2.
my son is just learning how to use BM1 and i would like to just let him use that for his stuff and i'll use BM2 for mine.
essentially i want to know if i can have old BM1 on my iphone AND BM2.
i tried to find this but didn't have much luck
