NI Maschine or BM2

about to drop 400.00 on a maschine but my buddy says BM2 is just as good i have BM1 but lost interest in it after i had bother with beatpack which took about 2 months asking on here for assistance then some kind forum member told me how to solve it.

advice needed peeps

    Hi..

    Well I wouldn't say BM2 is actually better or not.. But I would say is at $400.00 Vs $20.00, I would at least give BM2 a try first and see if it's all you need, or if you need more, than you can make the other choice...     Most def in my opinion. Using FTP lets you move things in and out no sweat. Try FileZilla when and if you get BM2, you'll see what I mean.

    In terms of depth, power, studio/computer/vsti integration I would have to say Maschine wins hands down. I have both Maschine and Beatmaker(Ipad & Ipod Touch). They both are nice and really fun to use. However,the fact that this question is even posed is a serious testament to how revolutionary Beatmaker truly is. I say get both esp. if you already have an Iphone/Ipod Touch/Ipad. It will only cost an additional $20 to add Beatmaker. Checkout the Maschine videos on youtube to see what I'm talking about. Hell, once Coremidi support is added you can even use Maschine has a controller for Beatmaker:)

    This a simple one.... BM2 (barring crashes, etc) is vastly superior to BM1 and it's fantastic for $20, there's nothing at that price, as an app that compete with it really, but comparing it to Maschine is like comparing Covertible VW Beetle and a Mclaren MP4-12C, there both cars, that's where it pretty much ends...You might as well chuck in Reason 5 as that would be a closer comparison (?!) as that's strictly software, Maschine is Hardware and Sotware based, unless you're talking pirate stuff, then it's completely pointless...

    Yup Yup i have both but you gotta have that extreame portability that even my mpc 500 does not realy have..

    BM2 fits in my pocket mpc does not. Lol..

    Lugging the portable mpc 500 around on battery power is not cool kills batteries even nicads fast. Also while lugging my mp around in a backpack i have bang it into a doorway once and put a nice dent on the side of it"clumsy ME"...

    On the road with BM2 in my car i just run audio jack into my clarion stereo from iphone4 and bang away while waiting for the wife to do her shopping or hook up the akg's headphones to it..

    I have mashince also where i think my bm2 may assit me is in starting on an idea and then later bringing it into maschine or mpc 500 to finish the track or you could just do it in the BM2 ..If i had to choose between cost vrs performace i would go with bm2 because it does everthing that my mpc 500 and the maschince does but the only thing that i could say is it has no hardware buttons to BANG ON that many love but this works

    Oh n cheap they Should charge more for it!!!

    For power and flexibility in a DAW maschine of course.

    But making beats on your phone or iPad is also a whole lot of fun!

    ya same thing here, i have both aswell.
    Consider the hardware. Beatmaker isn't just 20 bucks. The ipod is $300+
    They cost about the same.

    So we are debating hardware mostly, functionality.
    Honestly I think they are a great team for each other.

    I love how maschine can control itself ableton and anything else you want at the same time with its "pages" and midi/ controller modes. Also helps that it can run itself as a vst in ableton and other daws
    Whenever beatmaker 2 supports core midi, I wonder if it will be possible to control the beatmaker pads with the maschine controlle r(and its velocity sensitivity), using the midi mobalizer by line 6.

    The response time on an ipod screen feels great though because it is a hard surface and triggers as son as our finger makes contact (or slide).
    Beatmaker software does out do the maschine on what should have been basic sampling features. NI does however update frequently and is really taking an ear from the customers, they've rearranged their priority list to fit the customer demand for vst support, better sample features, etc..
