BM2 First Beat Showcase/Battle
So, I remember being on the NS forums and a certain user (forgot the name) started a battle of sorts. I dig the idea and I'm wondering of you guys want to follow suit?
The way that it COULD work is I'll provide some samples or a key sample or both, and we all try and make something using that sample in the track. This is also a fun n easy way for us to listen to each others' music and have ours listened to as well. We could make it a competition but that really up to you guys. If so I say we just go majority vote.
Let me know what you guys think. Since I'm providing the samps I could step out if you guys think its unfair for some reason. (I'm not that great anyways.)

Ok ok, today I got some free time on my hands. So ill put together a sample pack. Keep in mindim not going to give you 16 samples. Insteaill probably provide like 4 melodic samps and 4 perc samps which youhave to implement. (You only HAVE to use one mel and two perc)
the perc will be unique. No SDs,HH or Kicks. So expect some unique percussion.
If I pull through the deadline will be 4 full weeks from now. (28 days) (( so 03/24/11))
That's because I know some people work differently, may have other projects or be really busy. So making it 4 weeks should insure 2 things
1. The beats will have been participate and not rushed.
2. Everyone can participate.

Well in retrospect youre right, that does seem unfair to people lacking quality samps.
So I guess ill provide 2 SDs, 2 BDs, 2 HHs, a OH, a CC, and some unique Perc, along with a few melodics and ill see about the midis. Maybe ill provide the sample and participants will have to use it as the samp for the synth, but can twist it as theyd like. (LP suppressed and square volume LFO it for example)
I have a busy day today with HW, a collab and this but Im on it and it should all be ready by tonight.

I shortened it down to 3 melodic samps, you must use ATLEAST one. If you can use more than one and it sounds good, more skill/"points" to you.
There are percussion samps, 3 HHs, 3 Kicks, 3 Snares, and 6 "Distinct". You must use atleast one HH, Kick and Snare and atleast TWO Distinct samples. You are allowed to use drum samples from outside so long as you use atleast the amount required here.
I have also provided some random FX and Vox, if you want to implement them, feel free to cut them up as you like.
I have also provided some tonal samples for the synth, again, feel free to use these as theyre just bonuses. (not in terms of points, just in terms of hey, here, maybe you can try using this)
Keep in mind that you should not be sampling anything but what is given. That means no digging through Marvin Gaye for a better vox samp. The trick here is to hear these samps and figure a way to work em together. You can alter them in any way, and use them in both instruments.
Theres no prize just have fun haha
Winner will determine the next batch of samples (I dont plan to win lol, Im not too great)
You MUST use BM2 ONLY. NO OUTSIDE APPS!!! This is strictly to show raw power of BM2 alone.
You may however import any synth samps you may need for the synthesizer. That is IT. Everything else should be coming from BM2, your outside excess drum samps and your creativity.
If theres anything you think we should add or remove, say so now. Ill wait a full day and then ill post the samples. If I see a bunch of people agree, ill just post them today.
So in short:
ATLEAST 1 HH, BD and SD samp must be used
ATLEAST 2 Distinct Perc samps must be used
ATLEAST 1 Melodic Samp must be used
YOU MAY use the FX and Vox as you please, their use should be considered when we make votes, meaning that the use of the vox is GOOD. (ill remind everyone this)
YOU MAY use the synth samps. NO BONUS FOR THOSE
YOU MAY use outside Perc samps IF you use the required amount of given samps.
YOU CAN NOT sample anything for melodic purposes other than the melodic samples given.
BE CREATIVE! BM2 offers a huge amount of ways to tackle this. Any form of alteration that you can think of in BM2 CAN BE USED!
O and also, there is a 2:45 Minute MAX! This insures that we can hear all the tracks without worrying about taking forever to listen to them all.
In reality, Im making this pretty specific yet too broad at the same time. Ive considered just having it be, "Heres on mel samp, one perc samp, you have to use them go" but that seems to plain for our first little showcase.
So let me know what you gys/girls think, and we'll tke it from there.
I think the rules are excellent and well thought out ....i think maybe a simple vote the week after all attempts are posted.if every1 votes their top 3 tracks and thats that?

Everyone has until the end of March. The rules were previously stated but Ill compile this info in one post along with the participants.

quick question..hopefully a simple answer!
are any of these samps for use on the synth?i thought a couple might be but when i try load to synth each folder shows as empty.

make a keyboard sampler but dont load anything.
open the keyboard instrument.
select "settings"
go all the way down using the arrows and select "create zone"
Now the whole keyboard is selected as your zone, you can make this smaller if youd like.
Press the little arrow to the right, it flips through your zone/sample options.
Now select the base key of the tone youre using from that folder I gave you guys with the super short samples.
Now select "load sample", then load the sample youd like to use. You can use anything youd like! experiment with it.
ok so maybe not a great idea me trying this out!
