Beatmaker 2 desktop app?

edited May 2011 in General
I loved Beatmaker, and I'm loving Beatmaker 2 - but what would be really ace would be a simple port of BM2 into a desktop app. This way you could work on a project on the bus/train/tube - get home, ftp the session over, open on desktop version, tweak through the night, fire it back to your phone and repeat!

This would be wicked cool no? I noticed nanostudio offers a free desktop version of its app to try before you buy the app on phone/pad - all we'd need would be this scaled up a touch, and with ability to pull in/export with FTP.

I Second This, I Think if you made it to work with MPD controllers it would do really well. I know theres alot of computer software for this but nothing as stripped down and easy to use as beatmaker. Since beatmaker is essentially an MPC emulator it would be really nice to have it along side an MPD and like already said been able to transfer it to your phone or ipad and take it on the go to work on when not home.

Please release Audio Units (AU) versions of the Keyboard and Drum Machine that sync Desktop and iOS libraries. AU versions of effects would be nice but not necessary.

  • A desktop app would be terrific working on all fronts cloud syncing projects on all devices kind of like garage band but better would be superb.
Beatmaker has truly revolutionised the way I write and produce music.
the train journey to work will never be the same again. yes I am that nutter nodding frantically as I playback my latest riffs. I haven't quite mastered the linking to other apps yet.
any thoughts on Google drive integration
  • YES!!!! PLEASE continue working on the Desktop version. would be so useful.
  • My 2 cents- the desktop already has major players. The key to unifying everyone's workflow is an easier session/project conversion utility. A standard that everyone could adhere to.
  • No need to have the BM desktop be a major player on the pc...... just act like a utility to start projects, chop beat etc.

I usually sample something on my pc first,.....so it would be really nice to just prepare the chops/project then dropbox to bm.

Dropbox enables me to move between devices, so it would also be great to do shit on the desktop as well. Desktop + iPhone + iPad

If you really work in BM you know what i mean.
  • Yes indeed.
  • It would be nice to have the beat pack software for BM2 for sure
  • nobody says that corny shit but you
  • A DESKTOP VERSION JUST LIKE NANOSTUDIO HAS FOR MAC AND PC.. WE NEED TO GET THESE FILES OFF OUR IPADS AND ON TO OUR COMPUTERS FOR ARCHIVING FOR LATER TWEEKS AND REFERENCING TO BOUNCE OUT TO KEEP WORKING!!

Right now im working on my wifes album and the beats i made for her on nanostudio are all loaded on my mac and i can open them up. Track them out from nanostudio and bring them into logic pro x with no problems. BUT when i try this with beatmaker2 it becomes a big project becuase i have to sit at my iphone or ipad and track everything out then connect it to the computer and try to get everything out. Lord forbid i forgot something. I have to repeat this process over and over. It kills the work flow session. Even if you guys made a beatmaker2 mac and pc version just for us to unload our beatmaker tracks for continued production on more high end applications like logic pro x and reason 6 or even protools.

I find making beats on my ipad more intuitive and natural. so it is a go to tool to start any of my productions. But i want to add it into my work flow more efficiantly like i can with nanostudio. My problem with nanostudio is i can not save out any midi files... As far as beatmaker2 goes, i would gladly pay for a desktop version to complete my work flow!!!!..
  • for what it's worth: Beatmaker for Desktop would be completely incredible: one of the "walls" of working in iOS is file management and Samples in particular can be a pain to handle - anything that could make this part easier would mean less fiddling and more creativity and more music. I could be wrong of course but i think a Desktop version that Syncs with the iPad / iPhone ones would be very warmly embraced by Beatmakers current and future.
  • Been screaming a simple desktop version for long time. Intua Please listen! Bring back that bata version???

BM on desktop seems like it would be a great idea and who knows if Intua is working on that right now. I mean they have been relatively quite for sometime, even on the forums. I don't see any post from the intua account at all these days.
  • it does seem strange for an App as revered as BM2 for the forums to be so quiet - re: the idea of a Desktop version indeed it would be fantastic - but even a stripped-down program that allowed for sample-mapping and organizing on desktop that could sync to iOS would be stellar. Something that allowed users to create their own folders / collections / sample sets etc with drag-and-drop desktop ease then sync would be a godsend.
