Its sad sometimes, that any of my suggestions arent addressed at all...
In fact i got a friend on here that said to me, if you want a thread to end...post on it Mike...lol
Now i see its kinda true...

Look your effects engine is not fuggin with alot of pro shit...its lacking parameters, now i dont know if its lack of your development or lack of ios? Why? Cuz you never respond about it.

Look if i cant select a region to audio rip from a sample, then i have to import a whole song and then hack it off...but if the sample is too big to import, you have a rip screen that comes up...no preview...but its a start...make that bitch come up every time!
Or at least give me a button to ,ake it come up so i dont have to import whole songs

If you dont get a better way to share with a computer or a studio collaboration party...you will be useless in my workflow!

Your timestretch/pitch is not realtime....but samplewiz is?

Your sampler keyboard...is actually almost unnecessary as it doesnt really do much different than the drum sampler...add granular, add formant, add some waveforms like pure sine etc...turn your shit into a synth...now you have a v synth in your app...now people wont beg you for a synth anymore.

Charge for significant updates! Maybe some money would motivate you to kick more ass i dont know!

Oh heres something else that kills me ...no effects presets, no filetype seperation in your file system, your swing is unlike any other swing ever? I almost have to just guess and hope for the best. 57% swing on anything else i own sounds totally different than 57% swing on your sequencer...? What about using slices to extract grooves as well AWESOME

I dont care about audio tracks...if you add them sure why not?
I want more effect types! I want a real filter....
    filter: hp,bp,lp,comb,ladder
    Self oscillating
With cutoff, resonance and a link via xy

    Hey what about pitchshifter effect

What about real delay with a filter and some tap options

    A cabinet sim?

Theres all kinds of things you could do!
But the most important thing to do is. To reply!

I have asked or mentioned some of these things since the bm2 release!
It just gets old coming to a forum and never getting an answer of any kind!

My friends an i have all bought beatmaker2, in fact i just suggested it last week to a southern producer that i talk to...he bought it 15minutes later! Just like today he bought the alesis io dock on my word! But if we want to send the file to each other its too difficult and shitty to even begin to want to do!

It should be hey i made a file with these samples...they are in a container file...that has permissions...play only, open, etc...also containing a data file about the file such as title size date created and by. Now i can send this file thru wifi ipad to ipad, or via bluetooth ipad to ipad (ipod, iphone). Or i can dropbox it, or i can email it.

    Gee;

Relax man. Programming is a hard thing to do. I remember when Intua REALLY didn't pay attention to the forum. I'm really sure they're working hard to address all things we post here... I've really noticed it since they rolled out 2.0

Patience is a virtue, but being polite is even so much better, gets you a long way.

    ;o)

Spend more time making music... You can get good sounds out of the app if you tweak them right.

    Seriously, BM2 cost what $15? Maybe $20?

I think it's amazing and improving..... Already worth twice what I paid for it.....

If there is a better app for your needs, then use it. If not, then why trash the developers of the best one?

Can BM2 be better? Sure, but it takes time for an app to mature. In the PC/Mac world much of the music creation software has been around for 10 to 20 years. BM2 has be out for what, 6 months?

I gave thought on this discussion for a few hours and thought i could give you a hint if you want to use better fx... It's not the easiest method, maybe even a bit archaic, and surely not what you expect or (loudly) demand right now, but it's what I sometimes use to get much better sound processing... I use guitar pedals... To be exact, i'm using digitech's ipb-10 which is a pedalboard that is controlled with the ipad... I was about to buy the alesis io dock, but then found this beauty... I play guitar, so it just made sense to me... The great thing about this pedalboard (besides almost 90 incredible effects, and some great amp and cab simulations) is that you can record directly to the ipad whith pristine sound.... So what i sometimes do, is that i rewire the ipad while connected to the pedalboard, but i give it the input from the ipad's headphone jack... I then play, say, a bassline or a synth (or guitar off course), thru the board and record in bm2 to a pad... Resampling myself thru the fx if you will...

The ipb-10 is not cheap, and is ipad only... But you could do this whith an io dock or just a usb interface (lexicon lambda, alpha or omega are great options) and some nice boss or ibanez pedals and get results that you couldn't possibly get wih ANY app right now, this is because you get true analog warmth with them... The sound rocks and is a great way to turn around your frustration.

As i posted before... Keep your focus at making music... Remember, not so many years ago the only way was analog, people really had to rewire big rigs full of mics, amps, fx racks, mixers, and what not to achieve just a track in an 8 track tape recorder... And they got great records made... Rock, pop, early electronica, old school hip hop, etc... Music on the ipad is a great achievement... But creatiity and musical talent is still the winning method everytime.

    Regards

Now that i am using bm2 alot here are thngs to fix/add

    1. Quantize needs to be universal with other machines & apps, it needs a percent strength feature, and it needs a the ability to use a chopfiles chop points to make GROOVES.

    2. The file system needs to have more edit features at the file tree such as copy, paste, delete, move, rename

    3. The sequence data blocks need USER COLOR ASSIGNMENT. So its easier to know what is what.

    4. The sequencer timeline would benefit from section naming

    5. Some kind of bounce to wave/aif with email, dropbox, or wifi transfer...so i can sequence in other daws

    6. Your panning is thin

    7. Making a kit on beatmaker is about as fun as watching paint dry...not talking about sampling new material, talking about porting over soundsets and etc.

    8. You need an osx & windows host app...that lets us build kits with drag and drop and then send them to bm2.

These need addressed immediately or i, as a user will be reluctant to do any serious projects on beatmaker.
  • edited 11:36PM
    Oh i forgot...
Copy and paste to timeline in sequencer, because once sequence data gets underneath other sequence data there is no way to get it out...you can see its there, just cant do anything about it....and people are going to copy and paste the hell outta thingsin the sequencer guys...

1: Need multiple sample import with auto assign to pads
    2: Synth
3: Export all tracks as wav, not just stereo mix of song.
    4: Better effects
5: Ability to loop when chopping samples.
6: Auto preview of samples, hate having to push the preview button for every sound.

YES + Auto Map Samples ! this is the common sense stuff, I hope the programmers listen and do not let us wait till version 3.0. That would be a disaster, Native Instrument is on your case anyways, that should fuel the engine.

    QUESTION:

Why can I not freely move notes ie. I want to shift note a few ticks back or forth, is this by design as it does not make any sense??

The live mode for the drum device is a great tool for playing around with sounds. I find myself setting a loop on whatever track I'm working on and playing around with various combinations, pitches and velocities to find good parts to record. I've also found it fun to simply improvise with a groove. It makes me long for better choices in controlling the track behind my 'playing'.

My wish is the ability to set cue points for multiple loops that can be triggered during live modes.

For example, say I have a track with two bars that work as an intro, four bars that can function as a main groove loop, four bars of a variant on the main groove, an eight-bar bridge, and a two-bar breakdown. I'd like an interface to set up cues, noting what measure to start at, how many measures the loop is and a label for the loop ('intro', 'main', 'bridge', etc.). In the instrument panel along with the live modes and bank select, there could be a list of these labels so that the groove can be started up, then whenever you wish, touch one of the labels to have another loop cued up to play when the current loop reaches its end measure. A play/stop button is already easily accessible. Maybe there could be an ability to set a loop to stop playing when it reaches its end, serving as the end point of a song.

I'm unsure how this could be integrated for a keyboard instrument interface, but that could make a great option as well.

This could be a great way to use BM2 as a versatile live performance tool, being able to shape a beat, maybe accompany some freestyle rappers without being locked into a rigid preset arrangement while inserting some sound of your own.

-better copy/paste functionality, dragging copies around feels sloppy when you want to insert a pattern a few bars later
-pattern renaming and custom colors to improve the overview (ableton style)
-ability to add CCs freely instead of modifying existing ones (plus those of up to three effects)

-maybe the ability to change from an instrument preset to an empty one, I compose in BM and then connect external HW and so far I've been always adding a new track and been moving the MIDI notes over, Mute will probably also do but don't want to waste performance

    thx

PS: If I've been missing functionality pls forgive I'm figuring out what this strange RTFM acronym is supposed to mean

You absolutely must add the ability to name, arrange, cut, copy, and paste folders...
This is an absolutely messy lossy horrid system of keeping files...
Making beats, sampling, drumkits, keyboard patches...just seem to save wherever the hell they want to...or where ever you were last? You cant change it. It just piles everything in the same place... ITS NOT A GOOD THING AT ALL!

Also, colors or areas for type of files would be nice...

Also, i cant put my stuff into folders by set? Not from the device anyways...i dont use an external computer anymore... So lets go where this is really going please.

Patch sharing...sequence sharing....sample sharing for user area needs to be permited thru wifi, as my band mates and I would like to work on the same song...without the damn headache.

    Thank you

I feel your DAW needs but you're kinda pissing on the devs front lawn with your demands.
Still better than myriads of brainless users who want everything rewritten from scratch and implementation of high end desktop stylee synths but patience is due when it comes to IOS dev communication. always remind myself that i'm not having to work with something like a CR-78 anymore
  • edited 11:36PM
I've got one: higher samplerates when using external soundcards or DAC's.
  • edited 11:36PM
    Condensing my requests.
    1. Velocity in some manner other than pencil.
    2. Scales, etc...display only keys I want to play (almost every keyboard in ios now)
    3. Root note detection for patch building
    4. Introducing velocity would also open the door for multisample layers?
    5. Let me hold down file folders and files and drag them into other folder etc. im tired of all my stuff all chaotic on one neverending scrolling mess.
    6. I agree with dragging and dropping samples quickly to pads!!!
    7. The reverb is non convoluscent...and very very terrible... It doesnt kick in until the last 70 on the slider and then it just becomes huge too fast? I refuse to use it... Con reverb is possible as it is implemented on other apps quite well.
    8. Bounce to pad
    9. RESAMPLE
    10. Industry standard swing with realtime preview? I have to commit undo 10 times per session...dumb.
    11. I know that there is a pasteboard for bringing in other synths loops etc...but why not just include a great synth...if it werent for Eden in Nanostudio I doubt that that app would be handing your butt so much...well and when you copied the sequencer you left out some good stuff...lol...
    12. i have better toy effects than what you supply, and also your allowed parameters are sad at best.

Give me a touch point visual Eq...its ios, not hardware from 1983 (charge for it)
    Give me a filter with (comb, bp, hp, lp 12,24,48...at least add other types at will <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->)
A convo-verb with user IR...this will unleash some very awesome sound design
A cabinet simulator...but actually a convo effect could actually be used to model many other effects including classic delays and etc...

Audio tracks are cool, but i think they wont make a huge difference...maybe, but most serious people seem to be awaiting auria

Make sure you app works with all i/o properly?
