Apps for choppin samples

edited September 2011 in Support
Is there any apps that can chop up samples that can be used to put in the pasteboard to work with beatmaker2 as well as preview songs in your ipod libray before you import them?

  • Try Reforge or WavePad each for iOS!!!

Agreed! Wavepad is one of the better editors I've come across on IOS and thenprice is right
  • Hi,

If you prefer not to use our own Chop Lab/Wave editor, that means it is missing some features you'd like to have, and we have to address that.
We are currently making improvements to our chop lab, please let us know if you have any suggestions to improve it, so we can implement them

I'll stick my spoon here.. Hehe... Maybe a couple of ideas that might improve... How about some transient attack recognition algorithm that autochops all transients of a certain height (wave size I mean)... Right now autochop in the app just places x amount of markers on the screen, it would be better off calling itself "place markers"... Auto would be transient recognition and marker placement accordingly.

Also... Add to the dsp (destructive editing) section a way to control the stereo width of the sample for converting stereo to mono... Or at least give the chance to merge a stereo sample into real mono.

Also... Try to make all sample chops and fx non destructive... That would rock... Having a million samples to work with becomes a bit of a pain. ;0)

I think reforge's features are to be taken in mind... But reforge's workflow is terrible, and it crashes on me all the time... Simplify the workflow as much as you can... Let the user create fades by pulling a fade with their fingers and adjusting the fade section to obtain the perfect fade amount... Much the way one can create fades with Pro Tools.

Another very strong feature I think the entire app should have is transient warping without pitch change... Much like what one can do with elastic time on protools, live, etc.

So one could chop up something, maybe shuffle arround the beat with warping, then use that as a completely new groove.

Warping should be implemented all over the app.... Especially if audio tracks are to be added to the main sequence view, that would be used to fix timing errors... Say for example, guitar or vocal recording timing errors. But it also has uses on the chop and edit functions.

    Hope this ideas inspire you.

    As always, warmest regards

Ability to take a stereo sample and choose either the left or right channel and make that channel a seperate mono .wav file. Reforge does this. Its called stereo split. This is a must for serious chopping.

Okay Intua, you asked for it....lol

    Go here: http://redmatica.com/Redmatica/Keymap_Pro.html

And do to your sample editor what the king does! This is unbeatable!

[what is missing from beatmaker is synthesis, effects (good), package files]
