House/Elektro producers?

edited September 2011 in General
Hey guys... So, most people probably do some sort of Hip Hop genre with BM2, and the quality is amazing most of the time. However, is there anyone out there that creates elektro house, glitch step, french house, deep house or some other genre of house music? I've been playing around with some complextro/glitchstep that you can find in the soundcloud group or by clicking the link below

    Hi PinataColosso;

    I must confess that I don't like very much or listen very much to this genre... I like elektro a bit more "deep housey"... a bit more like what Luke Fair or Desyn Masielo plays... and to be truthful I'm more of a progressive house - progressive trance kind of guy... this track you created is a bit more glitchy in my opinion, but you do mantain that elektro feel... Even though I don't listen lots to this particular genre I think I do know how to listen to it and review it... so here are my opinions on it:

    1. It's very well produced... I was quite shocked that you got all those sounds out of BM2... it does sound like you have a lot going on.
    2. It's very well arranged, even though I think you should consider having a longer breakdown somewhere to build up and explode even higher after the breakup... maybe try to change the bass drum style during the break...
    3. The start sounds too glitchy for my taste (but opinions are like assholes... right?) ... I really like when you get the pads and chords into it... It really makes the elektro part and is pretty nice there... but I feel like you took quite a bit to get there... so I would think that there is another way to build the intro... maybe rearrange a bit... I dunno... just a constructive idea... maybe it would be hard to rearrange.
    4. I felt the track a bit short... and the ending felt very abrupt...

    All in all... I liked it a lot... I would not have written anything here if I hadn't... It's impressive for a track produced on an iDevice!

    I have created some elektro, and deep on BM2... but I generally never finish those tracks... I just seem to create dance tracks when I'm on the move and then never go back to them... I don't really know why... I usually finish only house and trance tracks I create on my regular DAW... maybe it's because I like playing Bass and Guitars on them and those are the ones that really fulfill me in the end... yet I should start using my BM2 Sketches on my regular DAW... sometimes the exporting every track to mix properly in my ProTools is a pain in the arse and I tend to avoid it.... which takes me to my last observation:

    5. I felt the overall sonic distribution of the track a bit mono... I think there should be a better placement of the sounds in the stereo field... yet, I've noticed that BM2 panners are not particularly accurate and either leave the sound too close to center or too far away... I don't know why that is... also, BM2 seriously lacks some kind of Stereo Narrowing/Expanding fx.... so I would recommend you finish the track... export tracks to wav... import in some daw... use compressors and eq to thin a bit the sounds that are "mushing" the sound.... leave bass drum (eq to 100hz), snare drum, bassline (eq bass freqs but kill a bit on the 100hz), and voice glitches in dead mono (using some kind of stereo narrower), but move the other sounds on the stereo field a bit to open up the bandwidth in the track... it will clean up a lot the track and make it more pristine so one can appreciate better every sound you use (and that's a lot!)

    Cheers

    BTW - I listened to your other tracks... I really loved Heartbraker... very nice.

    Thanks ALOT. I really appreciate the feedback. I did this as a quick groove that i arranged quick to get a bigger version of it so i dont know if i will do anything proper with this. You should see the project, Its kinda messy right now with over 100 small instrument sounds divided on 4 drum machines and about 5-6 tracks all over the place! However, i might clean it up and do a proper arrangement. Thats also why its a bit short. I tend to get lazy, want to jump on the next track and run out of ideas so thats why its short

    Yes, maybe i should do something proper with this, but exporting to the Mac feels like its not an option. I want to keep it on the system just because i can I also agree with you. What i miss in the application is a good compressor, dynamics plugins and such stuff. That would seriously lift the app and make it useable for really nice pro work. Now i am thinking about doing a bunch of fx racks with EQs and route everything to those tracks

    thanks a bunch for the feedback and also about my other tracks. Those tracks where produced in logic... if you want more techy stuff. Do a search for Toshkah Swe vs David Guda on iTunes, spotify or Soundcloud to find my released stuff.. however, that music is nothing i really enjoy doing.. id rather do this Heartbreaker stuff
