FL STUDIO, LOGIC, BEATMAKER

edited October 2011 in General
Just a question? Will BM ever be as good as FL Studio or Logic?

IMHO as the years go buy and these apps mature, and the tablet platform matures, yes.
Realize that PC/Mac has been around for 30 years. Software like Logic has been around for over 10 years, FL has also been around over 10 years.
The iPad has existed for about 1 1/2 years, and Beatmaker 2 has been out less than a year.

The PC/Mac is aging, and we are seeing the beginnings of the future. I was there in 1980, and it was an exciting ride. I look forward to enjoying the growth in mobile computing....

That inspiring to hear bremencole. I i have Logic but i really want to liberate myself from the PC as much as i can these days.
I cant wait for the day that i have that same power as the traditional FL, Logic...all right on my ipad. I know it's just around the corner!
Seems like everyday i need to turn on the pc less. Thanks BM.

...just wait until you want to use good effects, and master your stuff...
I wanna hear you thank beatmaker then....lmao.
Just wait until you wanna collaborate with other artists....good luck with that.
Maybe email a patch to your iphone tha you have on beatmaker on ya ipad....
    Hahahaha
A musical device is only as good as its I/O
I mean sure its a good musical creation tool...but what good is that if it takes eternity and manual hours to incorporate what i have made into my actual projects.

The ipad2 is cool, but it lacks the abilities of the daw for finalizing a mix, or adding effects, or getting a great mix! So we still have to export...and that my friend is where you will hate bm2, you will break the ipad, you will pull your hair out, and you will think to yourself ...do these people even use their own shit? No way...

Which puts beatmaker back to a square wheel

Have youever dumped your tracks as seperate stems into logic or pt?
    Hahahahahahahaa

You have to mute each seperate stem, you have to use a line out off your io dock or similar, you have to freakin manually line up each track which takes lots of time...especially if the track doesnt start right on the one....such as a melody.

With rendering or bouncing of stems and email support or dropbox, i could render each stem...throw them in mail or dropbox, dl them to daw, put on tracks and mix. 10minutes.

Right now same goal 2-4 hours based on complexity of material

Which means bm2 if you pay for studio time will cost you an additional 200-500 dollars per project...
Might be more cost effective to use a laptop and logic to begin with?

Look, right now if you want pro calibre sound you gotta stem out and it's a kik in the teeth doing it. The sound engine in BM2 and the effects need improvement but I will say this. I remember when Fl studio came out and it was an unimpressive, pissant little drum machine, that you could load samples into. All of these synths and samplers and mixers and lion and tigers and bears oh my....there wasn't none of that. There wasn't vst support until version three or later and that's when the game started to change and Fl could compete with Reason. Rebirth was the only self contained software package that could give you synths and drums at the same time. I wouldn't even consider using a pc or Mac to generate sound. They were straight up sequencers back then, for my Roland's, yamahas, korgs etc. Beat slicing in fl or any other daw back then was non existent, you either got recycle or wave surgeon if you wanted to slice beats. I'll say this, thanx to those earlier companies, these new guys have a mold to follow and improve upon. Hardware is the only reason why logic or and other desktop shit is so capable. Now, technology is improving in mobile devices. Hopefully the software will keep up but companies like Intua and Blip Interactive are going to need bigger teams to keep up, because these devices are the future. In ten years your iPad will be your laptop/desktop system. Once that happens, you ain't selling no more pcs and all those other companies that have bigger teams are going to come looking for greener pastures. These little guys got a finite amount of time to get their shit together because Steinberg, Propellerhead, Ableton, Logic, Cakewalk, those guys will be here soon with ports. And it's not just them, Roland, Yamaha, Korg, Access, Novatiion, thoses guys will be here too, cause hardware ain't selling like it used to. It'll take some years but yeh, you're smartphone/tablet will be the norm. Mobile Quad core processing is here next year, you do the math Little Johnny.
