Sample internally...
I know this maybe a mad request...
Would it be possible to add internal ios(?) sampling in an update?
What I mean by that is, a mode where the audio recorder section switches to recieve sounds from other open apps...
That would not only save memory when converting from Ipod import (only take the bit you want , not the whole song), but also be a great workaround for programs which don't have audio-copy i.e. garageband and sampletank (which is major issue)
Does any know an app that can do it?
cheers

Sampling from youtube, Dam endless possibilities.
Now how soon that is...remains to be seen.
Garageband, from what I have seen thus far is highly unimpressive on the apple side, it doesnt get many updates, its highly shortcoming in the edit department and in the effects dept. And most updates for it are merely bugfixes. It really doesnt have many features added that werent in release. Apple is NOT trying to kill their desktops and laptops...its inevitable...but i wouldnt look to them to make anything but companion software for a year or so at least. We must remember, apple has survived off the 2 main premises all of these years...they ARE THE computer for art and music, and the whole synergy thing. The ipad was probably never meant to replace the daw...we all know it is going to now...but they are going to bleed every update dry and sell you 2-3 more models of ipad first.
Plus there are alot of macbook touch rumors...whether true or not, we'll see
Beatmaker2 (best workstation)
Animoog (great synth)
Alchemy (crippled, but dope synth)
Crystal (fm at its best)
Sunrizer (this thing sound like hardware, in fact jp8000)
Samplewiz (kinda like a mini vsynth)
Meteor (great features very cubase like)
Ampkit (is it the best, perhaps not, but the best for the $)
Thumbjam (this app is very inspiring! )
Hokusai (great editor, slow workflow)
***note to all music app devs***
Must have features....
1. Simple sequencing at least
2. Copy paste
3. Dropbox, soundcloud, email support
4. Its virtual...so just like animoog the ability to alter the keyboard!! To just notes we want!
5. Background play
6. Wifi file transfer
7. Wist
8. Internal Ios5 sampling
This makes everybody play together nicely <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->
I agree, an ios app that could do it on the go would be sweet...so long as BM2 played nice with it.
Apple has "record what you hear". So. No software has been necessary to do that on the actual macs for years.
Seems to me what you are wanting beatmaker to do is RESAMPLE...i believe this is a good idea, and it can even be modified to do this for an alotted amount of time in the background user scalable...as a form of skip back sampling ! Which roland believes they created even though it has existed in Logic for years...lmao
But just make myself clearer, I'm looking for an BM2 update or app or way over recording internal audio from ios/ipod/ipad device... no pc, mac, or anything else... just the portable apple product itself.
As I said previously audio-copy is ace, but some apps don't have it, plus sometimes you simply don't have access to wifi or external devices...
Basically true mobile production.
Agent M: will post some tracks but want to post 100% BM2/ipod touch finished stuff, without any Ableton involvement, but as always feeling your tracks!...
Peace

If you find something please post here.
Right now, when I want to sample sound from a video, I'll play the video on my iPhone, with the audio being fed into a Behringer UCA202 interface, which feeds into my iPad 2 for recording (the UCA202 is connected to the iPad with the USB adapter from Apple's camera connection kit).
No, it's not the most simple, elegant setup, but it beats having to open my laptop just to record some samples.
Nobody gave you an answer because nobody knows the answer <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->
I don't have a computer. Just find the YouTube video you want and copy the link. Go into safari and lookup YouTube to mp3. There are plenty of sites that will convert it for free. Once you have your converted file, copy that link. Then paste Into idownload it gives you the option to download the mp3. After it's downloaded it has options to "Open in" you can open it I believe into fourtrack, multitrack or twistedwave then copy and paste from one of those apps to beatmaker 2. It works on 3G too I'll ride the train and look up YouTube videos and if I see one I like I use this method.
I know it isn't live sampling but the possibilities are endless if your not by your home set up.
will have to try that.
Agent M: yeah, monks sent me a link, hope all's good with you, I'm using an ipod touch 4g at the mo, but might move up like you if the ipad 3 comes out and dock compatible...sorry to go off topic...
