Virtual midi heads up...

edited December 2011 in Support
I believe OMAC style virtual midi is to be implemented in the next release along with some other things I was also pleased to see. In the mean time I figured out I could use midi bridge between a controller app (geo or soundprism etc.) and beatmaker 2. Which generally works really well. But I thought I'd let you know that using geo this way currently has a minor issue.

It seems that pitch bending a note then 'disables' the next note on message, not sure where in the chain but pretty sure it's not geo.
Plus geo's capacity to have more than one of a particular note in a layout means that you could retrigger a note whilst still holding it down, which bm2 seems to ignore.
Edit: also some issues with stuck notes after playing chords.

Note this in no way is a complaint or a support issue, I've uncovered a quite satisfactory method for adding a feature. Just want intua to be aware of an issue they might have when they implement virtual midi and let anyone who's interested know they can play bm2 with other same iOS device midi controllers. Which for me makes bm2 my go to iOS daw.

  • Hi,

Current BM2 version does not send MIDI data for the pitch wheel. The problem you are having should be corrected in the upcoming 2.2 update.

    Cheers,

WOW, brilliant news about the pitch wheel, I was just specifically visiting the forum to make this request for a future update! <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Will the implementation of pitchbend include application to the pads ? (as the only bend functionality currently exists on the keyboard)

Thanks for your hard work! Loving the app.

Just a note - the behaviour as noted in the original post remains the same with bm 2.2

Still having to connect geo via midi bridge but minus the localhost loopback now.

Still having issues with geo. After sending pitch bend from geo the next geo key press is ignored by bm. Will try pitch bend tests with other controllers and report back... Appreciate the effort and direction you are taking bm in. Thanks.
