You need to create instruments within BeatMaker and load a preset for each of them (piano, bass, drums etc...). Then within the sequencer, just move your MIDI patterns to the corresponding instruments tracks created.

I've tried this already...doesn't work
when i drag the midi file into the loaded preset instrument, the midi data doesn't even show and hence no output sound.

I figured out the problem...
When I loaded in a drum only midi track, the midi data was in the range D1.D16, and I had loaded in a drum kit on preset A..I then moved the data to the range A1.A16 and the midi notes played according to the pattern numbers A1.A16.
