Midi after update... 24 bit or aif

edited April 2012 in Support
Hi there,
first an issue with my ipad2 with the latest ios. When I try to record midi notes, the results are unusable.....any idea? Second question is...can I load .aif files? What are the sample rate supported for .wav and .aif file please? Third....I am still trying to record audio with my lexicon omega but it does not work.
Thanks. Regards. Luca

Hi Luca,

I haven't noticed any issue while recording MIDI notes on a iPad 2 / iOS 5.1
Did you double-checked the record quantization settings ?
Could you give me more information on your MIDI setup ?

BeatMaker can read WAV and AIFF, from 8kHz up to 96kHz. However, for best performances, I suggest you work with 44.1-48kHz sample rates.

The next update (2.3) will bring support for the newest audio interfaces such as the Lexicon Omega, RME Fireface UCX, etc.

Cheers,
Mathieu.

Hi Mathieu,
As usual thanks for your reply. I am using a icon midiport2, with a belkin 4 ports hub, but it was working before. I thought was the problem too, quantization, and I have tried with different settings and I did check for midi loops and stuff. I will try again, and see what happens. I am glad to hear Lexicon omega will be supported, I hope you will be able to allow recording on more than one track at the time, maybe four?

Hi lucartl,

OK, please let me know if you find something on your side.

Regarding the new audio interfaces, we'll support up to 8 input tracks.
Stay tuned !

Hi Mathieu,
Ok, I have done more tests, and because with the nano key everything was fine, I have tried again with the jd800 sending midi notes with the icon midiport, and everything was fine as well. I have to say my configuration was slightly different, than when I had the problem. This time I had only the jd connected to the usb hub, and nothing else, but nothing to do with Beatmaker, sorry.
A little question.....I did load some 24/48 aiff files with not problem.....I have noticed that beatmaker convert them to 16bit. That is limitation of the iPad, isn't? Or beatmaker will be able to record audio tracks at 24/48 in a future? Just curios.
Thanks. Luca

Hi Luca,

We convert edit files to 16-bit PCM files when saving. We might enhance saving in the future and keep the original sample rate. As of now we use 16-bits 44.1kHz or 48kHz (hardware sampling rate) format for recording, but as I mentioned before this might evolve.

Cheers,
Mathieu.
