Invalid file message

edited August 2012 in Support
So I made this beat, spent a good ammount of time on it, and when I went to save it the app force closed.

Now, when I load it I get a message saying:

Invalid file: Invalid BeatMaker 2 file

Is my beat lost for good, or is there some way to get it back?

I would email intua directly. They may ask you to send the possibly corrupted file.
    Good luck.

Thanks, I sent them an e-mail. Now just to wait.

I'm wondering has anybody else had this happen to them too? Because the more I think about it, the more I think the beat might he lost for good lol

BM2 has definitely improved with stability issues since it was first released but it does still sometimes crash. My advice is to save often.

Unfortunately I found out that lesson the hard way. Going to start making backup files from now on.

BM2 I find is quite stable, I've had some minor issues which usually were fixed by turning the iPod on and off. This is the first time I've had this issue and I've been using the app for a few months now.

LOL... Happened again... With a different beat. Fortunately I had a backup.

I think the reason is because I might be using too many instruments. I had 12 on the most recent one (including the MAIN default one) which I guess seems to be too much for the app to handle maybe? The first one had quite a few aswell. Can't remember the exact number though.

I still hope I can get the original one (when I started this thread) back because that was defs my best one so far.

I guess that is a relatively high amount of instruments (I use around 8 by the time I finish a song, and that includes all effects busses).

Are you using a lot of big samples? RAM limitations can cause the app to crash if you're using an iDevice with less than 512MB RAM.

I don't use any samples. I tried a fee times but found it too difficult todo properly haha l...

Since my last two beats i havent used more than 10, and have never had this problem, so im guessing the number of instruments is related to this. Which would make sense because the app crashes and force closes before I get the message .

    No samples huh? Oooooookaaaaay..
Anyways, that is a memory issue when the app closes without warning.
Always make sure nothing else is running in the background. That should help
