AniMoog and Beatmaker: Legato not working

edited October 2012 in Support
Hi Intua,

I'm not able to control AniMoog properly via Virtual Midi. Triggering simple notes is working fine, but as soon as I enable Legato (and Mono) mode in AniMoog, strange things happen. It's hard to explain, but I can provide you with Midi- and Audio-examples if necessary.

However, when I control AniMoog with my DAW (Cubase), everything works as expected. This leads me to believe that it's a BeatMaker 2 problem.

EDIT: I've just discovered that I can play on BeatMaker's Keyboard Sampler [keyboard, heh], and AniMoog's Legato-mode responds correctly (as long as there are overlapping notes). However, as soon as I hit record in BeatMaker and play back those notes, I get only mangled sounds. Disabling Legato brings AniMoog back to life again.

It looks like a bug in BeatMaker's Note On/Off implementation in the sequencer. Or something <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) --> I have no idea what is happening.

Can you please investigate?

Thank you and best,
Whiteout

Ps.: Apart from that I'm really loving the new update. Thanks a lot for audio tracks!

    Double check your midi settings. Each instrument has an in and out. If those channels are the same, it may be feeding into itself.

    I haven't bought AniMoog's Midi-Out-IAP yet. But I've set Midi Out to Off, just to be sure. Nothing changed.

    I've created a new default project in BeatMaker and loaded the Keyboard Sampler. I can play AniMoog just fine with the keyboard. Default Output channel is 1, Input is set to None (in BeatMaker). I've disabled Omni, again, just to be sure.

    The same setup is working perfectly fine with Cubase and Ableton Live.

    Hi,

    the MIDI timing is too inaccurate for Legato to work.

    In Legato, a Note-On event is sent directly after a Note-Off event. If the timing is even 1/96th note off (and believe me, more often than not it's 1/16th note off), the events will get confused and no sound will be heard, etc.
