Sends post-fader

edited November 2012 in Support
Hello,

I am just trying the 2.4 update, and much to my (and probably any sound engineer's) surprise, the aux sends are PRE-fader by default.

This is not all that useful - how can I switch them to Post?

Thanks!

I'm also confused by how the new aux FX sends are supposed to work. More importantly, when I load a project made with an older version of BM2, none of the FX on the global busses work until I delete and create them again. Even then, the mix is totally different. When I try playing with the aux FX sends on the mixer page, I get strange results. I also can't seem to find documentation that describes how the new features are supposed to work. I'm assuming the user manual will be updated soon, but I feel stuck in the meant time. :/

This has jacked up 10 songs of mine. I am not recreating the fx for all these. Can we get a fix soon that will address all my fx bus settings per pad working again? I can't believe no one encountered this during testing. I have been really amazed and promoting this style workflow I have in BM 2, but I can't even demo any of the songs anymore I made because the time I spent getting fx just right is now wasted and it all sounds wrong.

In the meantime, I guess I will stop using BM 2 and go back to ableton on my netbook and leave my songs as is until a manual on the new features or a fix happens. Ahhhh, just when I was really getting into it too. Haven't been this creative on a device in quite some time and was just really enjoying the workflow and my rehearsed live sets.

    Hello there,
Sorry to hear the update is not perfect ...
Can someone here send its simplest project on support[at]intua.net?

    Thank you,
    Vincent.

Yes, the sends really need to be POST-fader. Everything else doesn't make sense (in most cases).

For the broken projects in which the "sends" per pad are corrupted, I found out that you need to delete and re-open the FX in the appropriate FX/Return track, then the per pad "send" will work again. But of course this is not really nice.

By the way Intua: Could you please change that "per pad sends" into real send knobs (like you've implemented in the mixer)? It really doesn't make sense to have 4 real sends for a whole drum machine track, but not at least ONE per each pad...
Please tell me the situation in which this should be beneficial.

It's really odd - intua seem to have great programmers, but not a single sound engineer or producer among them. There is no other explanation for stuff like aux sends pre-fader, or a missing cross delay. These are really really simple things to add (I develop audio aoftware myself), though they have been issues for years now. It's a pity because otherwise, this app boasts a host of great stuff.

I'm also having the same issue with my FX buses not loading correctly. I have to delete them and recreate them to get the FX working again. Please fix ASAP

Sach ich ja! With every update it becomes more and more clear that they are great programmers but absolutely no engineers/musicians/users. There are sooo many functions which are just working for 50%... I really like to know how Beatmaker is behaving in the future. Do we have then a super-hyper-boosted-all-in-one-music-app... but we still can't produce seriously with it?

Intua, if you can't hire engineers - no problem! But I'm sure that there are many experienced users who like to beta-test... and which will give you the needed feedback.

seems a bit unfair to me to say they are all noobs now.I mean its really nothing they couldnt fix in a future update.and they are quite fast with bugfixes.Have you thought instead about all the new features we got in the last 3 MONTHS?Compare this to other companies.

A lot of people were cryin for most of this features but everybody disappeared now...i can say that i'm very thankful for all the new and free features like audiotrax,Peq,Sidechain,Sends, vertical zoom and the"double tap to instrument".And its stil running quite stable,no complaints here...sure,theres always room for improvements,i still have a lot of wishes as well.

but It seems they are reading the forum carefully and listen to the users wishes,so let them just work.I'm sure the Send issue will be gone in the next update.

@CEIsar: I'm not meaning to be unfair at all, and I can understand how it probably feels terrible if you just released a big update with lots of time gone into it, and then have people complain all around.

However, believe it or not - I'm trying to HELP Intua with this. I'm an engineer/producer with 15 years of experience and have worked with pretty much every piece of gear imaginable. It's just baffling to me how Intua has the skills to add huge features, yet the MOST BASIC bread-and-butter stuff needed for ANY serious production is missing: Real Aux Sends, Cross Delay, Stereo Chorus (the current one is mono)... these are basic tools and again, not hard to add. I'd rather have those and ditch Audio tracks and the slicing stuff.

Anyway - please Intua, try to address these BASIC issues in a small update. They will increase the usefulness of BM2 by 200% with 10% effort.

EDIT: And another example: Why in God's name is it a SIX BAND parametric EQ? Why not a SINGLE BAND parametric, and instead just increase the number of insert slots to 8???

Definitely need the post-fader sends, rather than pre-fader. Nonetheless, great work guys & gals. There's going to be some groovy stuff coming out of this great app!!!

No disrespect to your fine work and updates. The fx busses work when I make a new project and add fx bus, it's just the previous projects I have. Do you still need an example project? Should I zip all the samples I use and then export the project? I don't know how to get the whole project out, but let me work on it. My projects are all very bare bones because they are live play only. No recorded tracks, just the samples tied to pads and pads sent to fx busses. I could go in and recreate all fx busses and settings, but it is a lot of work to do and I'm wondering if there was another update you decide to make, if that would just make me have to redo them again. I think for now I will just start one new project and leave the others as is until I hear a final word on if there will be an update for the update and something else changes. There is no other app like this one that let's you do MPC style bangin out beats so easy live.

I'll work on getting you that example.

    For Intua:

Do you have an FTP site to send to? My zipped project with samples is 20.2 MB. I have a gmail account but don't know if they send attachments that size or not. Does your mail accept attachments that size?

Don't worry we have been sent a bunch of old project already

    Cheers,

CEIsar, I never wrote that I'm not thankful for the updates!
And to make it more clearly: I REALLY appreciate the work of Intua - and I REALLY see that they try make the users happy... so: thumbs up!

But the point we wrote about wasn't what I wrote above. The thing is that Intua could produce with the SAME effort much more "professionally" software. Often they (for instance) just have to write a "0" in their code instead of a "1". Ok bad example - but I think it's clear what I mean.

And of course in future updates there is room to fix issues. But my own experience with Beatmaker updates is: Every update introduces maybe 10 new problems and fixes maybe 3 old problems.
So, now you can calculate how Beatmaker will be if you look (let's say 2-3 years) to the future.

If Intua will continue to develop like this - my opinion is that they can't survive on the marked! And more than ever when the "real" big companies will conquer the iOS scene.,.

    Nicely put Luis

Although I've had a few issues with 2.4, overall I'm really loving it! Great work Intua! And all the best <3

Well, here is the update for me....I deleted the fx and re-added to fx bus and reset the settings on all my projects. Luckily the fx in BM 2 have very simple controls and few settings (something I definitely like) so it wasn't as much work as I thought. Now hopefully the next update will not make me redo that again. This app with my padKontrol and 18GB of samples is some serious fun.
