Sonoma pasting versus Intua pasting

edited January 2013 in General
Hi guys,

I've been trying to work out why I'm not getting the same interface for audiopasting as other apps use, and have only just worked out it's because there's actually TWO standards for iOS audiopasting out there, one by Sonoma and the other, it turns out, created by you guys at Intua, which is the one that BM2 uses.

I have to say, it's maddening that Sonoma isn't supported I can understand why you'd never even consider supporting a competing standard, but the Intua method simply doesn't work as well. For one thing, Sonoma's method is used much more widely and is far more reliable. The Intua method only allows one sample at a time to be held in memory, and isn't compatible with nearly as many apps. For example, you can't use it to copy audio from DJay into BM2 (try it - it doesn't work).

Is there even the remotest of possibilities that Sonoma will be incorporated or is it Intua pasting forever in BM2? I know AudioBus is coming to BM2 soon but does that have any 'pasting' capabilities?

Cheers!

Considering how robust BM2 is otherwise, it is unfortunate that they've not yet decided to go beyond the general pasteboard and adopt the Sonoma AudioCopy/Paste. The Sonoma method is just much more helpful and convenient.

I have found the pasteboard still works regardless which one...

some apps support both, you can use them to swap audio from the intua to sonoma pasteboard:

off the top if my head:
loopy (although you'll need to turn off the 'auto fit to loop setting' so it doesn't change the tempo)
AudioShare (i still don't know why ppl don't just use dropbox tho...?!)

ps - the sonoma sdk (what devs use when they add it to their apps) now copies to the general pasteboard too

because they are often making music without having an internet connection?you know, there are several iPads with Wifi only out there...like mine

Then why not just store everything in a folder in BeatMaker 2?

Because i don't use only beatmaker.I guess i'm not the only one

For example i create loops in ipolysix and Garageband, export them to beatmaker to fill the songs with my own samples and arrange them and export all trax to auria to mix em properly.

Audioshare is perfect for things like this cause you can store all of your stuff in own folders and you can open or copy the files comfortable in/to other apps.

Although garageband is a real beast. The alcatraz under the audio apps.Supports no audio copy/paste,i have to email them and open the m4a file with a compatible app from the mail app.i'm happy that auria will support m4a files with the next update.
