Chopping samples using audio tracks

edited February 2013 in Support
Is this practical?

I know that samples can be chopped on hte audio tracks in beatmaker 2. But is it practical to use this in order to make a full beat.

Such as loading a sample in audio track. Finding tempo of the sample and then adding instrumentation or will it crash?

I thought about using this method but always wondered if this will cause crashes.

Has anyone tried this or is the drum machine and chop lab the better way to go about doing this.

Wondering why you want to use this method? Just curious as to what benefits this would have? Maybe there is something to it useful to all? Explain if so. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Well the benefit the way I see it is that you will accurately be able to figure out Bpm. Even more so than you would get when you use tap tempo. The other thing is that you will be able to see your WAV.This way you can copy and paste the sample around, shorten parts of it and etc. You can also change the fraction of the grid. That way you can chop it into 16ths and etc.

This is very similar to the workflow of many producers who use ableton live as well as FL studio. Some in FL studio actually use Slice X or Edison but some prefer to chop it right on the play list aka the sequencer in the case of BM2.
