Bug: using Beatmaker with controller?

edited May 2013 in Support
Hi everyone,

some time ago I bought Beatmaker. I have to say: A lot of nice features, nice work Intua! The soundquality could be improved, and..... the workflow? Honestly it's the most complicated workflow I ever experienced, sorry.

That's why I want to control it via an external MIDI controller. I've tried it with: Akai MPK, Novation SL and a Behringer BCR2000...
Controlling 90% of Beatmaker's (controlable) stuff wasn't a problem - But the most importand (for me) controls I couldn't manage.

- Mute/Unmute (pads, tracks...)
- Filter ON/OFF
- FX bypass ON/OFF
- ... and many more of such important buttons

I was able to switch them "ON", but not switching "OFF". This doesn't make sense and it looks like a bug to me. Does anyone experienced the same behaviour? I assume yes, because I'm using MIDI controllers since many years and with all my 3 devices I didn't had luck.

    Has nobody here experiences with using an external controller and Beatmaker?

    Really?

    You may have to compromise.

    USE the touch screen for somethings <!-- s8-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8-)" title="Cool" /><!-- s8-) -->

    finally something that really needs improving.

    workflow is fiddly. even after so much time i cant get used to it. just switching instruments while recording takes a couple of taps.

    wish this was better.

    I've used MPKmini which is great and also Padkontrol too. My template is here

    Have you got any templates you can upload to the thread?

    Unbelievable, some answers... <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->

    Ok. So you're absolutely sure that i.e. "Mute On/Off" on drum machine's pads is working??
    Honestly it is hard to believe, because I tried it with so many controllers (also with software like TouchOSC and TB MIDI Stuff)...

    No, I stopped using Beatmaker for some time. Having an unbuggy MIDI control with controllers is very important to me. But if Intua will fix it one day, I'll continue making templates. Of course then I can upload a few...

    Also this bug I reported a few times - some months ago.
    So, please don't hold your breath. I assume Intua will (like always in this case) ignore it.

    It doesn't seem to be important that functions of BM2 are working without problems - it's more important to have as much as possible features - if they aren't working... who cares??

    Like I said before! U se the touch screen <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

    It is very practical and can easily due most of the tings your saying. It's all just a matter of being quick and getting used to it.

    That is very nice... for YOU. Maybe other people have different purposes, can you imagine this?

    But, hey Intua: Throw ALL external MIDI functions away - DeeJohnson don't need them!
    Don't take it too seriously, but maybe a more objective view wouldn't hurt?

    Well, to be fair to Intua, they have got a nice system for muting the pads on the touchscreen.
    I've just tried the mute control via midi from my mpd32 and I can confirm that it doesn't work.
    As far as muting tracks, it's true that there is no cc control available to mute/solo tracks, but track volume works great over here-
    You're right on the fx bypass control too...
    Getting back to the pad mute, with my mpd32 it may be beneficial to allow some functions to be controlled by note numbers- like I've got 16 pads loaded up, then the next bank of 16 could control pad mute...
    Glad there is someone else as passionate about external midi control as I am! Like Dee said though, you eventually will have to use the touch screen for some things.

    Hm, its sad that the developers arent fixing this bugs - and no answer from them, too.
