Akai MPD32 with Beatmaker - best way?

I'd like to use Beatmaker 2 with my Akai MPD32.

Can I do this with the iRig MIDI adapter?

Has anyone made a good BM preset for the MPD32?

Ok, not having any luck with this. I've used the MPD32 editor to have the pads send the notes written on the pads in BM2. The midi channel is correct. The pads make noise on the keyboard instruments but do not trigger the pads in the drum machine?

What gives?
