BM2 on iOS 7... How is it for you?

edited January 2014 in General
Curious as to everyone's experience with BM2 on ios7.. I have only used it on ipad(3) with external interface+midi controllers etc.
Currently it seems ios7 is a bit buggy with audio, IAA works but not for very long without the dreaded stuttering audio.
Same with audiobus. Anyone care to share their current setup and how it's working for you?
Thanks

IAA apps: Nave, Magellan, iSEM

  • I'm on ipad4 128g wifi, apogee duet, axiom pro 49, I mostly use the drum machine only in bm2, I rarely use IAA as it hangs all the time no matter what I load in it....and it doesn't let it go when you are done, so it's only audiobus for me to play or sample in. I am not experiencing choppy audio unless I mess with alchemy or I have gadget open in the background...then it's freak out city.
  • Sometimes Imini is a problem too
  • Yeah it seems like if I stay inside BM2, no problem (unless there is a lot of recording of audio going on).. I've been "torture testing" my setup because I've got a couple sessions coming up and it seems like IAA is a lost cause (audiobus does the same thing) for now.
Although last night I started out in BM2, added iSEM and everything worked fine until I added another IAA instrument ?!?!
Maybe it's time to wipe the iPad and reinstall everything?
@micgee$ obviously you haven't run out of disk space but I'm on a 16gb so you think maybe I just don't have enough space to run all this stuff? (Usually 2-3 gigs left)
  • I posted on the cubasis forum as well- getting the same behavior from that too. Something in iOS 7 is stinky!
  • Worked with just the iPad 3 last night- no cck or anything, running iSEM and Nave via IAA no problem. The problem is tapping on a glass keyboard- ergonomic nightmare!!!!!
  • No issues on ipad air.

Willing to bet RAM might be part of the culprit. I ran into all kinds of problems until I upgraded to an iPad Air and don't use it with anything else running. BM2 has been working reasonably well since with some heavy setups provided I don't go mental on the delays. The downside here is that I've had to build some big wav sets and build the instruments natively in BM2. Lot of work but it's been worth it for the stability. I've not tried IAA yet after still feeling the scars from Audiobus screw ups on my set up, but am tempted to see if my extra RAM may make things work okay with multiple apps running. If I get something working and it's clearly an app limitation with previous 'vintage' iPad models I'll let you know.
