So when's the update?

edited November 2008 in General
I kinda got the impression that an update to this was just a around the corner but that was weeks ago.

Any Idea of when the update will be available? The lack of feedback in terms of timelines etc... from the
Intua team is a bit unfortunate. Regular updates would be greatly appreciated.

I was hoping that I'd get an update from one of the devs but I guess they're too busy putting the final features in the next update.

Looking forward to it. Does anyone have any idea if it's going to be out in the next week or so?

We have added many new features to BeatMaker and we are still working very hard on having them completed perfectly. We cannot tell you a precise release date for now, but it will come !

Thanks for the reply. It's appreciated.
Without trying to pin you down too much 'cause software development is fraught with delays due to bugs etc... Are you aiming to get an update out this month?

If it was less than a month away, don't you think that might have been mentioned in the reply? I think (and this is pure speculation) we have a ways to go, and I'd be surprised (again, I'm basing this off of nothing) if we saw an update in 2008. That's ok with me.

I think it has to be this year! The friend of mine has izotope iDrum which can now upload custom samples + it has pads, 16 bars sequencer etc..I LOVE doing music on my iPod Touch and I'd really like to see Beatmaker going more PRO otherwise I'll have to switch platforms ;(
• edited 2:19AM
Yes. I also think it needs to be this year or they will get taken over.

I think your friend must also have iDrum for Mac or PC, which costs something like $70. You cannot upload custom samples without it as far as I know. I love the interface in iDrum but it is pretty limited compared to Beatmaker. I don't think you'll regret the $5 but I'd be surprised if you switched.

Well, I do have iDrum for Mac since approximately 3 years ago, so for me iDrum iPhone edition is a godsend.
It is THE only iPhone app that integrates with your DAW of choice (Cubase, Live, etc;) ... and YES You can upload custom samples as well... Simply BRILLIANT - I can throw in some ideas on iPhone during my lunch break and polish it of in Cubase or Live in my home studio after work.
PS; After downloading and using iDrum, BeatMaker is no longer on my iPhone... Looking forward to version 2 though

You're right. He has iDrum for Pc. Why you think the interface is pretty limited? In what way? It has fruityloops type sequencer and can also turn to pad mode+ you can pan each sample. You can upload anything you want, you have available kits etc. The only thing I don't like in iDrum or Beatmaker is the full release of the sample. I'd prefer the option in a play mode to cut the sample when you release your finger of a pad.

I wasn't commenting on what you would have with iDrum for PC. If you already have it then I'm sure iDrum is a lot more powerful. I'm assuming that most people don't and won't be interested in paying that much to upgrade a $5 application on their phone.

As I said, I love the interface to iDrum. It's very easy and fun to use and it invites you to play around with it live. They threw away old ideas about DAWs and sequencers and came at it a different way.

With respect to limitations, as far as I know iDrum doesn't support any timing other than straight 16th notes (I really like the groove adjustment on BeatMaker). iDrum also has a much more limited sequencer - just the 16 slots with no capability for multiple patterns playing at once. In my opinion this is optimized for changing the music on the fly rather than offline song construction. Of course without the program on your host computer, there is no sample upload and no way to get a .wav back to your computer except to play it back and record via your audio jack.

...So any further update Intua. Are we looking at a new revision this week, this month, this year?

Thanks.
• edited 2:19AM
yes, an update would be great! I got an email saying this, but it gave no indication of date:

Dear customer,
Thank you for your interest in BeatMaker,
and sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Yes, it will be possible to record samples from the iPhone mic, as of version 1.1, which will be free for BeatMaker owners.
The release date will be announced shortly.

Regards,

I hope someone from Intua will give us a timescale. That would be great
• edited 2:19AM
It would be great if Intua came out and said..the new update is going to be the first week of November..the first week of December..that would keep the thingsd moving in the right direction..community wise..so Intua..anything???
• edited 2:19AM
I know. Another week, another lack of update information. Come on Intua. We are your customers...
• edited 2:19AM
Yeh... Lack of response and update information from Intua begin to really SUCK!
What's up Intua..? Ran out of steam..?
• edited 2:19AM
Maybe that means that won't be any update in a foreseeable future. I like the software, but its limitations stops me using it professionally so I'm waiting for an update or for some other company to take us to a next level
• Hello,

We are currently entering the beta testing process of the new BeatMaker update, so we are not very far from releasing it.

So, since app developers are free to report/announce new apps and features now (new NDA), can Intua provide us (devoted) users with some more information of the upcoming BeatMaker release please...?

Is that all? What have you guys been doing all this time?

Seriously, sounds awesome. I am watching the App Store like a hawk.
*** What's new in version 1.3 ***

* New step sequencer:

- Patterns can now be up to 4 bars long
- Step resolution: patterns can now be edited with a resolution of up to 1/64T, making possible the creation of more complex and richer patterns.
- Two new editors: Pitch and Pan editing by steps. The pitch editor brings you the capability to compose complete melodies from just one sample, as you would do with a synthesizer or keyboard sampler.
- New pattern preview bar for easy lookup and navigation

* Improved song sequencer:

- Each pattern placed on the timeline can now be resized
- Insert and remove bars on the timeline
- Zoom In and Out for faster navigation and editing
- Dynamic access bar to quickly go to different song parts

* Audio recording: record samples directly from the iPhone built-in
microphone or headset (also works on iPod Touch 2nd generation with headset).
With the wave editor, select the start and stop position and automatically assign your new recording to pads.
Record sounds anywhere and use them instantly in your composition !

* Whole new pad edition screen for quicker and easier access to pad settings

* Improved wave editor with zooming capabilities

* New Cross Controller allows you to change live multiple effects and
sound parameters. Choose any combination of sample and effect parameters available in BeatMaker and manipulate
them live in quick or full screen mode

* New Moog-like filter effect with Low-pass, High-pass, Band-pass, frequency and resonance support.

* Improved Delay effect with dotted and triplet rhythm support

* Signature support: change your song signature to 3/4, 4/4, 5/4 or 6/4

* Interface rotates automatically depending on the device horizontal
position

* And much more...

Can't wait!!!!!
Complete tracks in the pocket now!

Brace yourself for a possible long wait on this one, guys. Apple has been taking an unbelievable amount of time to approve app submissions lately, especially updates. Olive Tree Bible Software claims that they submitted a major update to their software around 6 weeks ago, and no one has seen any sign of it, and they haven't heard anything from Apple.

Hey Intua Team, is there any possibility that we could see some screenshots?
