Need advice on hydration for my indoor cat

Trying to figure out why my indoor cat barely drinks any water unless it’s from the tap in the bathroom. The second he hears the sink turn on, he’s right there. Makes me wonder if there’s something about moving water that’s more appealing to cats. Thought about getting a fountain, but I’ve seen so many on the market that it’s a little overwhelming. Any recommendations or experiences? Want to make sure whatever I choose actually improves his hydration and isn’t just noisy decor.

  • You’re on the right track—cats are instinctively drawn to running water. That sink behavior’s super common. After a bit of research, I went with a water fountain for cats from Penthouse Paws and it was a total game changer. The design mimics the sound and movement of a natural stream, which keeps cats curious and engaged. It also filters out debris and odors, so your pet’s getting cleaner water. Mine now drinks noticeably more, and it’s been great for his kidney health.

  • Interesting topic. Been dealing with something similar—my cat just paws at the bowl like he’s annoyed by it. Wasn’t sure about those fountains before, but if they help with hydration, I might give one a shot too. Appreciate the breakdowns here.
