NI Imaschine October 1st

edited November 2011 in General
It appears that october the first is the launch date set by native instruments for maschine on idevices...ipod touch/iphone... No ipad version at this time. I read what little I could since they are advertising it in flash...(can we say fire the help). It really seems as though its not very good at this time... Actually i am rather disappointed by the feature set. How many sketchpad drumsamplers does one need?

I really think after gathering the features that beatmaker2 is still in position to murder this app! I will tell you now whether you want to hear it or not though...YOUR EFFECTS in beatmaker2 are your achilles heal...you are going to need a more thorough filter, eq, reverb and etc...because maschine will have 6 effects, and they will be killer! Up until now, you guys really havent had any competition...but, its getting ready to start.

I would like to think with all the improvements that have been going on here on site, that you will immediately address this situation and stay the Godzilla of the imobile music world!

PS. Why do i have this sneaky suspicion that reason modules are going t appear in tabletop? Hmmmm

I didnt even know they were puttin an i maschine app out. I know they droppin the maschine mikro. Thatll be bananas if they made these two compatible and work on the ipad. There will def be a problem. I have the big brother in my main setup it rocks efx and all. And i just mapped out the fantom into beatmaker 2. Imma have to up my ipad to the 32 cuz this is gonna be insane.

BigBolo73, LOL, I am adding FantomX presets to BM2 as we speak! Have you had any luck with getting the sounds to loop/crossfade, or do you just play the wavs as is?

iMaschine is def gonna get bought when it drops, just another tool in the arsenal..i just hope they don't do something stupid like make it only 6 tracks or something. I like how they have the in-app purchase for new sounds..(hint, hint) It says on the specs it runs on Ipad 1 and 2..I'm thinking it won't be an HD version like Beatmaker though, looks like it was designed for a phone/ipod.

The mobile music game is getting SERIOUS! I can't wait to see what's to come..this is a great time to be a producer when all the new equipment is a $4.99 purchase on a tablet versus the old days of $2000 for a keyboard/drum sampler...

@mobetta. Im just playing as is. Its a really lloooonnnnggg process mapping these out but i figured i will play them as they are and tweak them depending on what type of track im wrkn on. I plan to upgrade my ipad2 from a 16 to a 32. Got the 16 thinking i wasnt gonna use it like that but boy was i wrong. I have maschine and plan on gettin the mikro for my travel setup so of course im gettin the imaschine. It would be hot if you could use both together in some way. Wonder if will make a collab with imaschine...THAT WOULD BE THE ULTIMATE BEAST!!!!

Yeah, i'm gonna get the mikro too, it's like $399, that's a good deal for a lightweight maschine. I hope i can use the imaschine on my Ipad though, because the iphone sucks for playing or hearing live audio. Either way, things are definitely looking good for iOS beatmaking. With all the competition, the apps should get better and better!! Have you tried FL Mobile yet? It's not as good as BM2, but it's a cool all around workstation app. I put a bunch of sounds into it already.

I'm thinking that iMaschine will be core midi.

If it is then you should be able to (theoretically) be able to use the iPad + iO Dock + Maschine /Mikro as a new setup. I was hoping for a controller app more so than the actual music creation app, but ah well.

They should include the mapping for the mikro/masching in the app so I could use my ipad instead of my laptop to make beats.

Thats all good news to me. Now...eventho the mikro doesn't have any knobs for control...will it be able to be used as a controller or have control tendencies. Like i said i plan on getting the 25sl mk2 so i will have control anyway just wondering how limited is the mikro outside of the knob features. I know the software is the same.

It's out already guys. The sounds are great. But thats as much I got from a first play.

Ummm bought it...dont care for it...good sounds, but few of them....and more cost$$$$

Its very useless if you own BM2 already....it adds nothing, in fact it has less effects and and way less options...

Its power lies in its soundsets...and you will pay for each and every one. Save your money. Buy Traumahs library, and load them into beatmaker 2!

I dloaded it......not really impressed but its for the iphone. We will see what they do for an ipad version.

I just took a loop I made in iMaschine and put it into BeatMaker 2 , both can be used because iMaschine has no sequencer for song creation.

No need to compare the two yet.

That app makes my head hurt (imashine)... Not enough colors on screen!!! Love the screen shots on BM2. Mashine screen looks like MPC... Dot matrix- like. Ugghhh. Come on with the update Intua!!! BM2 is a GameChanger. Wish list... SynthStation Compatibility

    Why would you need both?
BM2 does everything maschine can do...maschine just has nicer presets ooooh
If you own bm2 and you buy maschine you just have app addiction, not common sense

    Buy animoog instead...its fantastic!

Major +1 for Animoog.... it's $.99 kids, cheaper than a beer...... I am flat out amazed by it, and feel guilty only paying 99 freakin' cents!!!!

Yeah!! animoog is fantastic. My wife is going nutz with me making terrible sounds! I love it! <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->
After this month is going to be 29,99$!

App addiction, I can say indeed ,but that would be too simplistic. I use multiple Apps and produce my music the more different apps the better. I bought my iPod Touch and my iPad based on BeatMaker 1 , but that dosn't mean anybody should stop with one app.

I make good music with multiple apps, and I mix and match the sounds from them.

I wonder if someone can take the sounds out of iMaschine and make a kit for BM2? Hmmmmm.....I would pay for that

Actually it's not that hard @beautifulperson... I use ipad explorer... A mac app that lets you navigate your idevice folder structure without the need to jailbreak... You should give it a try... If you find you stll can't then let me know and I'll help you out
  • edited 11:48PM
@ Ragno. Let me try that over this weekend. Will let you know if I have issues.
  • edited 11:48PM
@ Ragno - seems to take some time. Seems like I can't copy the whole folder over...I have to select all the sounds in each folder and then copy them. That is taking me some while.

What version of ios are u using?
  • I have the latest version 5.0 I am done now, but it took me a long time because I had to recreate teh folders under Samples and move each folders contents to the new folder. I couldnt drag teh parent sample folder Samples, or even Claps within Samples. I had to grab all audio files in the lowest folder and move it like that.
