Step recording?

edited July 2012 in Support
Is there a way to do traditional step recording, where each note you press on the keyboard is entered, but there is no ticking real-time clock to play against?

I might not be understanding your question, but just turn off the metronome...?

I'm talking about not real-time recording, but rather step recording, which is a common midi sequencer technique:

It's a very common feature and maybe it is in Beatmaker 2 somewhere, but I can't find it.

I wish, that would be a lot easier. Genome has a similiar function though. When you press a key on the keyboard or combination of notes it will show you in the piano roll what you just pressed and you can just click up there and it will plot your notes. I have yet to find a iPad sequencer that functions like a hardware midi step recorder most of them seem to just have the style of pc recording.
