I'd really like to know when/where Intua promised free upgrades to everyone who bought BM1.
Here's what they did say:
We are really hoping we can work out a paid update system for 2.0, so 1.x customers have a discount price while updating.
They never promised anything here. They certainly didn't promise a free upgrade. And Apple doesn't make it possible for buyers of one app to get another app at a discount. It's not Intua's fault.
Regardless, $20 for an app with this kind of functionality is more than fair. I have a hard time believing someone who owns an iDevice doesn't have $20 to throw down for an app they obviously want enough to spend time bitching about it on a forum.
Just to clarify something on this very outdated thread.
BeatMaker 2 is not just an update, it is a completly new application that took nearly 2 years to develop. A lot of hard work has been put into it.
We still wanted to provide BeatMaker 1 users a discount for buying BeatMaker 2, however, unfortunately, it is technically not possible to do so on the App Store. We contacted Apple various times about it without luck.
I see Intua are giving away free promo codes for BM2. Pity they couldn't honour their previous pledge to their loyal customers.
I would argue those customers are not loyal if they don't want to support the company and pay a fair price for their products.
Really. We've waited months and months for the next version on the understanding that our loyalty would be rewarded by having a free upgrade.
You Intua apologist can bleat on as much as you want but they promised us a free upgrade and then reneged on the deal without so much as a apology or explanation. That is very poor customer service and I'm apauled that they treat their customers this way.
I think that's a misunderstanding... I really don't know cus I never heard this... But think about it... Anybody can use the "loyalty" excuse, and all the sudden no body pays for it... I don't know about you guys, but I really want to fund some updates with my purchase of BM2...
Intua and I must of hit send on our messages at the same time... I guess they gave the real answer..

We hope you will understand our position.
