You guys ROCK! You put in almost all of the new requests that I had asked for! And you know what happens when you give a little...I would still love to see a choke group (where triggering one pad stops another) or a nicer way to stop a pad that's playing in a sequence. (one user...sorry I forgot your name and I'm not going back to look for it...had a great tip for stopping sounds by setting it to play again (when you want it to stop) at zero velocity...works great!) I digress, but I thought it worth another mention. OK, Here's my big request:
Can you fix it so that I can browse any folder on my iPhone so that i can use sounds that I have saved in the many other programs that allow recording and saving to wav?!? (Can't wait for noise io import but...)
I have so many nice sound makers that allow recording and saving but connecting to my computer is such a hassle when I'm on the train..Come on guys. Why doesn't everyone just allow file swapping? This was something I could do with the first version of Windows I ever had back before we discovered fire.
If I could move tracks between 4track, organist, miniSynth,Synthpond, etc. etc. etc...and especially iKoto!!!
Oh Joy of ALL Joys!!!
But seriously, can you do something to get us out of this box or are the big brothers in the Mac Store just trying to keep us down?
Also, as I am crap at arranging, hows about another arrangment sequencer view for arranging parts (as in intro,A,B,Break,A,B,C,outro.) I mean, creating a sequence of patterns, saving it as a "Part" and then being able to arrange them in smaller chunks. Sounds like alot, but for composing, The difference would be like not having to write your whole drum part in one really long pattern.
Also, this may end up being another app altogether, but you would do well to provide a more indepth wav editor, with graphic fades, loop tools, sample cut-paste-reorder, smoother pitch/time stretch, etc.
When changing bars during a playing sequence, for my purposes, it is better to have the bar change on the 1 of the bar I click on.
Maybe some like the bar switching as it is and so there should be the option to have either, but I would rather always have the switch on the 1.
Thanks Again,
K
P.S. To those who gripe about all the changes people ask for, Please remember that this is a "suggestion" box and that Intua are not abliged to use every single suggestion posted. I don't get angry or feel ungrateful if they don't use my ideas (I'm still waiting for that free 1,000 air miles with each update) If we censor ourselves before we even hear our own ideas, The world would be a very boring place indeed! And the government would have nothing to do!
How many times have you been playing your instrument (quiet in the back) just letting ideas flow, when you came up with a great new song?
If Bach never introduced new ideas we'd all be chanting in unison, (well, give or take a couple years)
It would be awesome if you could add a button in the step sequencer that would let us play or loop the pattern all by itself. This would save a lot of effort compared to the current method - creating a bar in a composition with just that pattern, then selecting and looping it. That's a lot of work!
BeatPack is great, but it is actually quite a bit of work to keep everything synced - you have to remember which tracks you have added or changed, turn on BeatPack, do the uploads one at a time, and remember to do this with some regularity. It would be wonderful if all BeatMaker content were synced automatically when syncing the iPhone, same as other iPhone content (photos, songs, apps).
But this morning I thought of another cool addon possibility..
If Intua would manage to create for us, ADSRs and maybe a pair of LFO's...as in my first batch of requests....,
then the next big thing for a creativity boost would be a fun and simple modulation matrix per pad. it would be yet one more editor button on the pad screen.
where u can assign pitch/pan/vel/fx amounts maybe cross matrix points even
to adsr's or one of the 2 LFO's or velocity.
I think the LFOs would sit nicely on the fx page.
and the ADSR would be great in the sample waveform page, maybe inside the wave editor.
I like ideas that add to the creative possibilities of this product without taking away from its intuative and lightweight feel.
Adding a piano roll, more pads and things like that I find bogging and streaming away from the mpc style "mobile"box intua have created for us.
I take inspiration from Native instruments products, such as battery and reaktor to find the basic tools that make their products so
useful and versatile.
I always felt it was a drag that in the sequencer, when you edit a pattern the rest in the lane get changed.
On the go its a the ass to keep on making new patterns for just a kick variation for instance.
It would be great that you can selct a pattern and click on edit pattern or something. the edits u make in there are for that
pattern only. if you wanna loop those, maybe there is a copy paste, or just duplicate function.
I think this way we can end up with many less patterns and much more creative editing in our mobile tracks!
what do you guys think?
This is the app that made me get a itouch.. And u guys did a great job, one thing I would like to see a function that allows pads to turn off other pads and is asignable for different pads too
Just two requests:
1. Piano type keyboard for inputing/playing and recording (pitched) samples in real time - possibly one of the most often requested features and (sadly) totally neglected by Intua team and...
2. Constructing songs from patterns in "real time" - hardware drum machine type...
A.....How about sync between iPhones or iPhone to Midi Sync Convertor?
B.....ADSR wold be great!
C.....Solo on pads ( maybe a toggle between Mute and Solo?
otherwise a sh#thot app, that i look forward to watching grow........
First, Full .AAC support. then the ability to trim away ANY loaded sample of it's pre/post start/end point. also, the ability to accomplish some deeper sequencing parameters (volume, pan, mute, filter, delay, bit crush, e.q.) even if ONLY 1-2 possible additional lanes of sequence data, per sample sequence.)
With full .AAC support, many wonderful things could be in Beatmaker's future:
Possible FULL future integration into iTunes. Maybe if Apple could see a community benefit, AND a new way to make profit, via song sales, through a very personal creative venue <!-- s;-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";-)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;-) --> (big labels/indie labels could get in on the action, throwing contests, and finding new artists who've already got a knack for the future of the music industry. lots of potential here, with the right heads wrapped around the whole idea!!! Imagine Labels selling Beatpacks, or even better, US SELLING OUR Beatmaker TRACKS/OR Beatpacks! ....right on iTunes! ...or even offering them for free as well, OFCOURSE!
.AAC could mean streamlined operation inside the App, with quicker load/transfer times... plus the ability to export an entire arrangement as an audio file, in the standard format for iTunes/iPhone/iT/iPod classic, directly to our own iTunes Library, OR EVEN upload to Apple, for placement in the iTunes Store...
Imagine the day when a DJ can get the track you've just finished in Beatmaker, and in minutes from the time you complete it, they can be DJ'ing it live, at a party! furthermore, imagine this: you make the track, upload it to Apple, a DJ downloads it directly to his iPhone/iPod Touch, and DJ's it right through his iPhone/iPod touch! (once ofcourse, somebody comes up with a DJ App that's on the same level with Beatmaker... <!-- s;-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";-)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;-) -->
We can ALL benefit from FULL integration, into iTunes, should Apple support it <!-- s;-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";-)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;-) --> Integrate Integrate Integrate!!! It's already standard practice!!! <!-- s;-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";-)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;-) -->
Now if Apple (or someone else, with excellent technical ability) would just make a little Wi-Fi drum pad/velo sense kbd/knob-slider MIDI controller, to program the iPhone/iTouch, with real world sized pots, and keys, so we don't have to fumble with our thumble's any more ...we'll have it made, creatively !!!! (and yes, you notebook/desktop users would also have to be able to use it to control your programs in the notebook, on the stage, or in the studio!)
I would love either far more distinct colours for pads and their channels or the ability to name the channels.
T
Are you talking about the colors in the sequencer? I think what would be better is a more contrasting color when you activate a "step" in the sequencer. Right now the grey-ish colors and the pastel channels are hard to see sometimes (especially when it's bright outside). I think using a color scheme is nice, but you need to make the color apparent for their uses. As it is now I forget what color pads I want to sequence and rely on the name only. And using the name only is hard because even that gets cut after 'x' amount of characters.
ABILITY TO CROP OFF THE PRE/POST START/END POINTS, ON ANY SAMPLE, JUST RECORDED, OR IMPORTED.
Those of us loading samples from our software (which I am constantly, already, as I have lots of my own recorded material to work with) need way's of freeing up memory/storage space, by the ability to cut off an un-used portion/s of our samples.
Who Agrees with me, that we REALLY NEED a sample trim option for more than just what we record with the Beatmaker?
1. 1/8 note quantization
2. Some kits without long samples and just some normal funk, hip-hop and rock kits (especially kick drums)
3. Ability to export results to the 4track app! Just like you now do with Noise.io. I could create some synth parts in Noise.io, import to Beat Maker and create beats, and finally import that into 4track and add vocals, etc.. voila... the iPhone is now a truly portable studio.
It would be very useful if in the main Seq page, you can select several patterns and group them into one.
Maybe in the form of a group button it will reveal a select button/add button/an edit button/and a group button.
It would be so much simpler to build songs if we can focus with simpler arrangements that are built of more complicated arrangements.
Imagine a beat group/ percussion group// bass group//leads..
and then you basically build your song with those.
Made a new pattern..np , just add it to your selected group.
you can go into a group at any time and edit its arrangement.
I dont see how this would add to memory hogging, its just note playback we already have normally in our seq. just more organized and complex.
On a separate note, I have been building countless kits out of my one master kit that uses several samples for each sound type. Very very powerful.
It would be so useful for me that in the edit waveform window to have another selection button that keeps the current size selection and lets you move that selection across your wave.
As Beatmaker had once before. this takes out one more click to create a selection more or less the same size..

All I request is to be able to use my (iVoice) mic on my 1st gen ipod touch.
The dock mic and the 1g touch works fantastically with Fourtrack, Truphone and other voice recording apps, and I have to assume that this would be an easy fix. I know that there are few of us out there with 1g touches and mics, but I'm dying to hook up my turntables!
1st it is exelent mobile gear(i think apple should make an iphone/ipod.pro version with audio in and etc..)
i will ask just for only one improvement and i think everybody will agree with me,of course if can be done.
and that improvement should be in my opinion,at least 2 banks of 16 pads of samples.dont know if that
someone mention already if yes, than sorry to bother you in your hard work guys from intua
(i really like what you doing.THIS IS THE FUTURE)..........BTW..........do you consider a make your original mobile hardware studio?will be nice
I THINK THERE'S ONE MAJOR FEATURE THAT WOULD SERIOUSLY ADDRESS MANY OF THE REQUESTS ON THIS THREAD. IT'S A FEATURE COMMON TO ALL SAMPLERS, HARD OR SOFT, MADE SINCE ABOUT 1996, AND, WHILE I REALIZE IT MUST BE A SERIOUS PEICE OF CODE TO WRITE, THE ABILITY TO TIME STRETCH, OR SHRINK, AS IT WERE, WOULD BE A MAJOR ADVANCEMENT FOR BEATMAKER. THIS WOULD MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO ALTER THE TEMPO OF A SAMPLE, WITHOUT CHANGING IT'S ACTUAL NOTE. FOR THOSE OF YOU UNFAMILIAR WITH THIS PROCESS; SAY YOU HAD A RHYTHMIC SAMPLE THAT ACTUALLY HAD A TONE IN IT, SAY IT WAS AN ARPEGIO PLAYING IN THE KEY OF C, AT A TEMPO OF 120. THE ABILITY TO TIME STRETCH WOULD ENABLE YOU TO ALTER THE SAMPLE SO THAT IT PLAYED AT A TEMPO OF 90, BUT REMAINED IN THE KEY OF C. THIS WOULD BLOW THE WHOLE PLATFORM WIDE OPEN FOR SONG WRITERS AND SOUIND DESIGNERS, MAKING ALMOST ANY SAMPLE USEABLE, IF IT FIT YOUR PARTICULAR CREATIVE VISION FOR A SONG. I MIGHT ADD THAT THIS FUNCTION WOULD ALSO ALLOW YOU TO KEEP THE SAME SAMPLE, IN THE ABOVE EXAMPLE, AT THE SAME TEMPO, BUT CHANGE THE KEY FROM C TO F. I HAVE A ROLAND GROOVE SAMPLER THAT I BOUGHT AROUND 1998. IT HAD THIS FUNCTION. I BELIEVE IT WAS ONE OF THE FIRST MACHINES, AT A PRICE POINT BELOW 10G, AT THAT TIME, THAT DID. IT MADE IT POSSIBLE TO TELL THE MACHINE THE KEY AND TEMPO OF A SAMPLE WHEN IT WAS INITIALLY RECORDED, SO THAT LATER YOU COULD GO BACK AND SIMPLY TELL IT THE NEW TEMPO, OR KEY, THAT YOU DESIRED, AND IT WOULD MAKE THE CALCULATION FOR YOU. CHANGED THE WAY I WROTE MUSIC BACK THEN. ALL OF YOUR BIG DAW's, LIKE ABLETON (THE BEST), HAVE THIS FEATURE BUILT IN TO ITS BASIC FUNCTION. YOU DON'T HAVE TO TELL THE PROGRAM NUTHIN', ASSUMING YOU UTILIZE "ACIDIZED" .WAV's. THE PROGRAM IS ABLE TO SHIFT A GROUP OF SEVERAL SAMPLES TO MATCH MUSICALY AND RHYTHMICALLY THE MOMMENMT YOU INTRODUCE THEM. IM NOT ASKING FOR ANYTHING THAT SPECTACULAR, I KNOW WE'RE WORKING WITH A CELL-PHONE HERE. BUT THE ABILITY TO INDIVIDUALLY TIME STRETCH A SAMPLE MANUALLY WOULD BE AMAZING. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK.
****INTUA...YOU HAVE CHANGED MY LIFE WITH BEATMAKER. THANK YOU. NEVER BEFORE HAVE I BEEN ABLE TO PUT DOWN A COMPLETE MUSICAL IDEA, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, WITH TOTAL EASE, LIKE I DO NOW. WHILE NOISE.IO, AND SEVERAL OTHER PROGRAMS, MAKE SOME REALLY SWELL SOUNDS AND ALL, NOTHING CAN MATCH BEATMAKER, NOT EVEN FUCKING CLOSE! THE MEMBERS OF THIS FORUM, WHO WANT TO PISS THEIR UNDER-PANTS, WHINNING ABOUT EVERY LITTLE INSIGNIFICANT BUG, LIKE THEY'VE BEEN PERSONALLY LET DOWN IN SOME WAY, SHOULD REMEMBER THAT THEY HAVE OBTAINED NEARLY THE SAME BASIC FUNCTIONALITY OF MOST OF THE $300-$700, COMERCIALLY AVAILABLE, DAW's, FOR 20 BUCKS, ON THEIR FREAKIN' PHONE! MOST OF THAT COMPLAINING IS, NO DOUBT, AN EXUSE FOR A LACK OF REAL CREATIVITY, AND INGENUITY. FOR THE ABILITY TO BE ABLE TO PUT DOWN MY IDEAS, AND COME BACK TO THEM, AGAIN AND AGAIN, WHENEVER THE INSPIRATION STRIKES ME, I WILL GLADLY WORK AROUND THE OCCASIONAL CRASH OF BEATPACK, OR ANY OF THE OTHER SMALL ISSUES THAT HAVE NEVER REALLY AFFECTED THE OVERALL FUNCTION OF THIS APPLICATION. Instead of selecting FX 1 OR FX 2 OR Master, how about a wet/dry level for fx. This would make for much more flexable control.
Oh, And any automation you can possibly fit.
PS Thanks for the Filters

Absolutely, 100%.
1.) Allow to automatically save data once you create file and press ok.
2.) Allow to use more than one kit on one project.
I can live without the first one but the second is a must!!!! Thats the only serious flaw that i see in the app.. otherwise its awesome!!!

Attack, Sustain, Decay, Release on pads would be good
As would attaching soft instruments (AKA like VST) not just being able to load WAVs, so they can run along in the sequencer.
A few more effects...
My most wanted feature would be an automation lane for the effects. Especially the filter.
