Loving this app!

Possibility to record sound in sync to the beats you create...

1) Provide an easier way to backup my work and get the MIDI and samples back to the computer and into a desktop app for more refinement

2) Improve the file management to not require a gazillion clicks. Basically, every time I'm required to go into the file manager there's something really lame about it. For example, I am exporting a song. I click export and it takes me to a screen where I have to choose that I want the My Export folder. I'm exporting! Default me to the My Export folder. Then I have to create a new file and enter it's name. I'm exporting a project with a name! Just make the project name the default name for the export and let me change it if I want to. While I'm working on a track can you auto-save it so I don't lose my work? Okay, it's an iPhone so maybe that's hard. Fair enough. Then just give me one save button that saves the files under the name I've already chosen w/o requiring a bunch of clicking around in the file manager. Deleting files needs work too. There are several types of files, such My Audio Recordings that I have no idea how to delete. Improving the file manager would save users a lot of time and errors.

amazing, amazing app -- worth every penny and then some.

++ to these great suggestions ealier:

1) pattern grouping - big efficiency gain to organize patterns in a group which can then be copy / pasted, ie i want to play this group of 6 patterns that is 4 bars long for 8 more measures; imo, the biggest single efficiency gain I can see the app could make
2) pattern naming - hard to find which pattern is which when you've put the 40-pattern song down a couple weeks and come back
3) keyboard controller for pitch sequencing - even if it were only a few keys, it would be a big gain over the current pitch edit UI
4) ability to play just current pattern when editting a pattern
5) extend current noise.io integration to support other 3rd party apps - i believe noise.io has an SDK which they are looking to license to others like Randgrid; that seems backward to me -- it seems BeatMaker could define an interface that other 3P apps could write to, then those apps user communities would lobby their fave apps to integrate w/ Beatmaker. if Beatmaker licensed the SDK to them ... $

of course more pads would be grand too, but i assume this is a memory/processor limitation more than anything; i've run out of memory uploading kits of 16 samples

again, an amazing app, best $ ever spent in app store, ever.

I can't tell you just how much this app has truly changed my life. The reality of being able to compose, using high resolution samples, in an extremely intuitive environment, anywhere, anytime, has brought on the sweetest, most prolific period of my life. I am continually annoyed by people wasting space on threads like this one, asking for features that have been there for months already. For those that weren't clear on this; you can already export individual tracks to midi or audio...just set 4 bars of the desired track (alone) to loop in the sequencer, then press the export button...I do this frequently, to export ideas, track by track, to import into Ableton. Beatmaker kicks out nice, 4 bar clips of each track, ready to manipulate further, once I get home....Anyway, I think, speaking for the people that use Beatmaker as a legitimate composition tool, the most helpful, and most realistic, enhancements to the existing feature set would be; time stretching/shrinking, this could be manual, it certainly doesn't need to be the warp process that Ableton uses, and the addition of a second set of 16 pads, within the limitations of the iPhones RAM, so less time would be spent exporting pieces of a song, then importing them back to conserve pads. Time stretching/shrinking would make it possible to change the tempo of a sample without changing the key, or to change the key without changing tempo. That would make it possible to use any two samples together, regardless of whether they are in corresponding tempos or keys. This feature would be the one thing remaining for Beatmaker to become my primary DAW. I would love that. As it is right now, when I have two samples I want to use together, that don't match key's, I have to export them to Ableton, stretch the sample to the key/tempo I need, export it to wav, and then back into Bratmaker...a little time consuming...

Anyway...thank you for a wonderful program!

jo im new here but 2 thibgs that would be great are 1: second pad bank that we can put 32 samples and 2: something like a piano roll that we can drop some melodies and make a pad sound longer or shorter so you can put 1 step long a bass sound or 1 bad long that would be great annnnd record for 8 or 16 bars that would be great =). hope that would work with power of the new iphone. ( sorry for my bad english hope you understand my ideas )

1 more bank at least of 16 Pads and mute grouping for them.
The extra or more bank is what would really be nice.
We could play beats and basslines with one bank and
Chop a sample over 16 pads with the other bank.
With unlimited patterns I see no memory problems involved in another
16 pads.
Mute groups would also be nice but there is a work around for that.

Great program!!!

What would make my life complete would be a way to trigger patterns with the Pads (as seen on the Akai MPCs). You hit a pad, it plays the assigned pattern, you hit another pad, it waits until the current pattern is finished (or until the next downbeat) and switches to the next pattern.

Hi, i'm a happy noob checking out sound software, because i'm interested in making some tunes!
Your app looks really great, you seem to be providing good support for it.

Please make a free trial version of this app! i would love to play around a little with a free version just to get an idea of how it works, considering the price , it would help me decide if i want to pay for it.

Sorry please delete if this has already been suggested!
Rock on

Envelope Editing for each Sample (ASDR)
More flexibility with effects
I want to put a low pass filter on one of my patterns
But my samples are using fx send 2 with no low pass and drums are using 1 with filter off.
of Course Piano Roll type menu.
• edited 6:07PM
individual outs the ablity to rout each soud out of different line. 8 outs.
• edited 6:07PM
Your work around for now is mute everything but the pad you want to come out.
That way you have 16 outs.
Just a work around right now until they make that feature.
• Piano Roll editing. There's not a single app (mindblowing, but true) that offers piano roll editing/programming with the ability to export MIDI files. This, to me, is the missing link between something working as a great on-the-go sketchpad that allows the user to continue work later on in their real DAW.
• only 2 requests.

1. Most importantly, LAYERED PADS. I use guru a lot on ableton, and the one thing I miss when I'm going mobile with Beatmaker, is the ability to layer sounds onto 1 pad. I think more than 1 pad bank would be helpful too.. to have more samples, could really go further with the sounds.

2. Something that's been mentioned already, a keyboard pad, or the ability to play samples by different pitch.. even if its the MPC method of playing the pitch with the drum pads, anything.. it'd really help to be able to change and play the pitch of 1 sample that way, rather than having to use multiple pads for different pitches.

Hello,

Those things maybe have been already stated in this thread, but I did'nt had time to fully read it, so here is my wishlist ( some stuff are maybe already doable but I didn't found how to do it ) :

- Ability to export your Pads / Kit to .WAV in a simple way, for example and Export Kit To .WAV / Export Selected Pads to .WAV options.
- Ability to reorder the Patterns ( Drag N Drop would be the best ).
- Ability to rename your Patterns.
- When you Tune a Sample / Pad, Octave / Semi Tones Values are brought back when cycling beetween Pads, but the Scale Value is Reset to normal, even if the Sample has been effectively Scaled.
- Ability to Cross Fade your Sample.
- Ability to Fade In / Out your Sample ( That works as it should ).
- Enveloppe Editing for your Sample.
- Cycle beetween the FX modules by Dragging.

Otherwise congratulations for the App, it's some really neat work !

This app rocks!
What would make it amazing would be the following:

MPC style 16 levels (pad pitch).
Pad BANKS (A,B,C,D).
Poly and Mono Pad options (SINGLE and GROUP modes).
MPC style SIMULT pads (pads can trigger each other- pad 1 will play and also play 2 or what ever is assigned)
Chop mode MANUAL pad assignment (when in wav edit set chop points and assign them to pad nubers)

iTunes/iPod import mode (import songs from iTunes within the iPhone) automatic mp3 conversion to wav.

Peace!
• edited 6:07PM
- No automatic "1-Bar-Loop" while recording
- Better Pattern Management while recording
- Pad Pitch: Sample on Pad 1 can be placed on all 16, but pitched
- Piano Roll
- Intro Metronome: Instead of instantly recording, the metronome should tap a bar before the recording begins so that we can start to record at 1:000 perfectly
- Pad Banks: Like an MPC has, A B C D
- Import from iPod or iTunes. Maybe Intua needs to get together with some other App-Developers who developed Synths and Instruments with Export capability. You could then develop sort of a "Bridge-App" where Beatmaker and the other apps can save the exported files. This way, Beatmaker can import soundfiles made in other apps.

Mute Groups Are a MUST!!!!

I was blown away by this app until i realised you can not create kill/mute groups. For MPC like tune sampling this is an absolute must.

I sorta still dont beleive its not possible, and im sure I missed where you do it. But if its not there, PLEASE implement it.

The way Battery does it, is each pad has a group number(which can be nothing for no group), no 2 pads from the same group can play at the same time.

If one is already playing and you press another in the same group, it kills the old one (battery has some other options for which one lives, but newest lives is all I use)

Thx for the great app.

There is a work around to the mutes although your suggestion is an often requested one and will hopefully
be in the 2.0 version.

Use velocity to mute notes where the note should be muted have a note there with zero velocity and it will act
like a cut off you can use the resolution for more accuracy.

It works for now ,but I also feel your pain and want them to bring this to us soon.

first of all THANKS. best. iphone. app. ever.
i wanted to buy an MPC500 for use on the trips to work, but i ended up using your app. an love it!
the interface is just awesome, right deal between modern touch interface and classic MPC feeling.
an EP made entirely with beatmaker beats will be available soon on my website
http://www.the-beep.de

but a few things i would love to see:
a Button called "Pitch Mode". You select a pad and only play this pad on a scale on all 16 pads. just for recodings melodies much easier. just include a simple piano roll mode for every pad in the sequencer, coupled with that feature it should be enough for some serious melodic work.
Modes -> "Loop" ...so i can easily select a sample/loop and trigger it on and off. might be also cool to have "pad settings".
Sample -> Attack/Release ... you know why. this might also fit snugly into the new "pad settings" dialog i mentioned above.
Maestro -> Global Swing! -> i love to draw groves in the sequencer for hi hats, but sometimes you want the whole track to swing on a click.
2x16 Pads -> 1x drums 1x instruments. this might not be possible on the 3G/2G due to RAM, but maybe include it as option with less bitrate/polyphony whatever?
FX -> Reverb... uh yeah, poor iPhone processor. damn.
FX -> PitchShifter... just like my MPC.
FX -> Filter is nice! But resonance would be totally rad.
FX -> including a bitcrusher is PURE genius. thanks for that!! but id love to have more control, so an actual number of bits and frequency range would be cool!
Mixer -> Limiter/Compressor. ... i made the mistake to 4.6db my kickdrum. the resulting distorsion is quite nice for a digital device, but id like to avoid it. a simple limiter might be cool! might also be cool in the FX section.
Tune -> more options, id like to pitch 2 octaves
Sequencer -> Copy Pattern. So i dont have to draw the hihat groves again
Main -> Export A choice between exporting the whole song or the selected loop area would be awesome.
Recording Mode -> would be cool if you could record the live performance of Modes -> Mute or Reverse. I could make some cool gating effects with that!
Recording Mode -> a pre count! please! just the option the have 4 clicks before the recordings begins.
Audio Recording -> Normalize Sample. My vocal kickdrums just sound weak and theres no way of adjusting the dB level accuratly.

and...i almost forgot..."note repeat" please

i guess thats it. sign me up for 2.0.

thanks for this awesome app and greetings from germany!

A large Pad to apply Filters intuitively, just like the Kaossilator or the Kaoss Pad 3
The iPhone was made for this. So why don't use it? A Selection of filters at the left
side and a nice big Pad on the right (e.g. with surround-effect and so on) - it's difficult enough to tune
those small controllers - with sufficiently sized pad, it won't create any problems.

Hell yeah, with all these suggestions made before, Beatmaker will bring me straight to WORLD DOMINATION!

Ask the guys from Ableton for help, or for cooperation - would be great!
And don't forget the piano roll, and the tune-pad, and..

hi intua people
sorry if this has been requested already..

the only thing i would love to see in beatmaker is 16 level pads ala mpc - where a sample can be distributed across the 16 pads with varying pitch allowing for realtime melody recording, would prefer that than a piano roll personally

oh i just noticed the dudes below me
a Button called "Pitch Mode". You select a pad and only play this pad on a scale on all 16 pads. just for recodings melodies much easier
Pad Pitch: Sample on Pad 1 can be placed on all 16, but pitched

thats the sh*t

thanks
keep up the good work

Hello Intua,

Just bought your lovely app yesterday, and I have to say I'm hooked =) Fits my workflow perfectly once I can get my own kit-generation software going!

The only thing that bothers me about BM is the fact that I can't seem to be able to control the signal flow within the 2 FX chains. I want to be able to re-order the individual FX modules within a single FX channel. I can easily come up with ways of dealing with other stuff, but this I can't fix by myself. I only hope that this rearrangement of FX modules was possible (I might want to put the delay before the bit reducer, for example)

Cheers for a great app! If you need more cash, just give us a modest update to spend on..

EDIT: I just realized how it's supposed to work. Now I am happy! As long as BM will keep on functioning stably I have no further comments. BTW your HPF is very nice ;p

Just to annoy yall a bit more, here's my first loop (no processing etc outside from BM, 100% ITB):
http://donthaveto.com/temp/waudemort_ritim.mp3

sure u kan do better though

Cheers!

Just a few things I'd like to see added...

1.) Preview Sample
2.) 16 Levels (Pitch, Velocity*, Tune, and Filter) *16 fixed velocities and/or user editable
3.) 16 Track Pad Mixer (all independent...own fx/filter, etc.)
4.) BeatPack Windows Mobile .cab. WIFI and/or Bluetooth sync between iPod/iPhone.

I am very much enjoying using Beatmaker but 1 very simple update that would be particularly usefull for me would be the ability to transfer samples via usb as my wifi broke yesterday!
