Can I extract attachments from MSG files without Microsoft Outlook installed?

I received several MSG files from a client, but I don't have Outlook on my Windows PC. I only need the attachments inside those emails. Is there any solution that works independently without requiring Outlook?

  • Yes, there is a way to remove the attachment from the MSG file even without installing Microsoft Outlook. MSG files are generally used in Microsoft Outlook and this is why many people encounter such problems as they receive archives of emails but don’t have Outlook.

I faced a similar situation where I had some MSG files but only needed the attached documents. Instead of installing Outlook just for this purpose, I used Mailvare Free MSG Attachment Extractor to open the MSG files and save the attachments separately. It worked without requiring Outlook and helped me collect the required files directly.

If you have a few MSG files, you can try extracting them with a suitable standalone tool first. For larger collections, see if the tool can extract bulk MSG attachments before you process all the files.
