Any Hopes of Pad Cancel??

edited May 2010 in General
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to cancel the pad when another pad is triggered???
If not, does anyone know when an update is coming out?
That is my only complaint with Beatmaker.

You'd think such a simple feature would've been added by now, but no

It's too bad because BeatMaker is still the best sequencer for iPhone OS, despite some other apps (SunVox and Looptastic Producer come to mind) having some awesome features.

Hey guys,
I found a temporary solution to this, in the sequencer, trigger the pad where you want the note to end but change the velocity to zero.

Hope that helps ^^

Hello,

You can definitely use the 0 velocity trick to achieve that, but we've implemented exclusive groups
on the next BeatMaker version.

Finally you guys speak out about the next update(or do you mean a new app alltogether?)
Itd be awesome if we could hear more from you guys.

So, did you mean this new update? Cause the 1.3.6 is here, but I see no cut groups in it nor do I see any update notes for this update anywhere on your site.

No, this update was just for ipad use. Thats all
Hoping intua is sticking to the dev.

I would like the ability - to put it in simple language- when you un-press a pad the sound stops. All that on the main pad page because I'd like to be able to control more than one pad-sound like that at the same time. Is this so difficult to implement? I would love if Intua can do that on the next update. Cheers!!!

I really do hope it's coming soon. I mean, I really don't have anything against the app. But when I purchased it 6 months ago I was all excited and giddy about it. Only to find out if I was to do anything with samples I would have to go in and do it all in the pattern editor and manually adjust velocities for every cut note. Doesn't really make it as fast or as intuitive as I hoped it would be. The pads and the quick MPC style recording and dubbing was what made me make the purchase in the first place. Clicking in notes I can do in any app, and that is mildly exciting to say the least.

So if this gets fixed I'm sure to dust of the app and actually use it aswell.

aye Zack, what your talking about is pad release, and we're hoping this will come too.
To be honest we're expecting a lot but hopefully Intua knows that, personally, I'm cool with having BM take baby steps, just release something guys. Even if it's small.

Totally agree.

Yeah, I am aware it is called 'pad release', but since this thread is called 'pad cancel' I went with it. I mean, it is essentially the same thing no?

Hmm, kind of, i consider pad cancel a way to press some button to cutoff all sound, and itd be useful to also cue this in the sequencer somehow.

Gotcha.
I'm more interested in 'pad release' though. it is just a pro feature you can't live without (in my opinion) if you want. Pad cancel is a good option to have, but it is not essential for composing -making beats, it is more for live situations. They should somehow link mute button to that cancel button. At any rate, time to add some pro features. I've been member of Intua forum for almost two years now and I'm still waiting for that feature.

Id have to diagree, the ability to cancel certain or all sounds is indisepnsable, say you have a chopped sample but you want to have a change up where your throw in a break. If the sample is millibseconds too long it ruins the soubd, but if you chop its waveform to be shorter then you dont get to have the full sample.
Pad release is probably a more useful, but i think theyre both pretty useful in their own way.
Anyways, im gettibg dismayed. Intua is either working hard to throw out a huge update. Or working hard on another app :/
Or maybe not at all..

To me it seems more like they are not too bothered about droppin' in on topics here. I've seen this same request in multiple posts, heck I've even made a post requesting cut groups. I might be wrong but I don't recall seeing a single answer from anyone in the dev team on any of the posts.

A simple, yes we are considering it or no it's not on the list, shouldn't be that hard to obtain?

I'm not so sure I will be forking over anymore cash for the next release which seems plausible pretty soon (considering the price drop).

In general i really hope whatever they come up with it's good for all of use BeatMaker User cause at the end of the day it really does save alot of time and trouble when it come's down to making music, but they have been quite lately.

Even if you are extremely busy with development. The ignoring customers route has some small problems. Mainly, it alianates you from your customers.

When you finally do announce your next move, your user base is not there anymore. Nobody likes to bang their head to a wall for too long. There are other apps around, and propably plenty around the corner aswell that are still in dev. It might have not mattered in the past, but like it or not. Social interaction with your users/customers/fans etc. is a big part of todays business models.

A simple, no/yes or "we don't have time, we will get back to you in june" would do just fine on plenty of topics around here.

I want to have an Update or maybe Beatmaker 2 because Pad Cancel is a very important (and i think a simple and basic) feature.
So, Intua when it will come?
