FEATURE REQUEST: One sample for all 16 banks?

edited August 2008 in General
When making your own kit, I'd like to be able to add 16 versions of the same sample (or just duplicates in general), but have Beatmaker only recognize it as one sample (not 16 separate ones), so you could add a longer sample without maxing out the storage space (30G?).

I write alot of ambient music, so it would be cool to change the pitch/direction/sample start of one long sample to make soundscapes. It would be cool for live performance too.

Thanks!

    I'm not sure I understand what you mean, you know how to use the selection mode as explained in B)4a of the manual, right?

    Okay, I think I understand what you mean; when you are loading a single sample on all of the pads, you want it to only take up the amount of memory in the iPod's ram as the one sample. Problem is, beatmaker needs different versions of the sample in its ram to play them back as different pitches as it seems to stand now. Theoretically, at some point we will be able to automate and change things like pitch, start time, and envelope on the fly, and you could do a 16 level feature like the MPC has. Once we can do pitch and other automatable parameters, Beatmaker will be a true force to be reckoned with!

    I was thinking how in Ableton Live you can just copy a file in a cell to another track and it doesn't physically duplicate the file (unless you reverse it).

    It would also be cool if you could set a sample to loop automatically without entering it in the sequencer (just by triggering it in the pads menu), and not necessarily quantized to anything...this would work well with ambient pads & textures that aren't BPM specific for live play.

    hey there.. i was lookin for something like that too and found a nice workaround..

    1 load up a kit (which include the sample u want to use)
    2 now edit a pad with sample u dont need and load the sample u want to use..
    2 now change pitch or note manually
    3 do this for every 16 and u got what u need..
    3 too bad that your whole projekt will only be this sample <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->
