iRig Mic

edited June 2011 in General
I'm thinking of getting an irig mic recorder purely because of beatmaker 2 and was just wondering how it actually works?
do you have to save each recording as a sample or can you record straight into the sequencer or wherever without saving the recording as a sample?

    Hi Guys

I have the iRig Mic which works well on my iTouch with any software that has an audio input. There are a few ways to record with the mic and BeatMaker 2 and you do have to save your recording as a sample:

1: Use the Drum Machine to record a pad sample, save and then edit if you wish to trim etc..

2: Go straight to Sample Lab and record there. If you edit (after sampling and saving) you don't get the option to overwrite the sample with 'Save' you have to use 'Save As' rather than just 'Save' but you could then just use the same sample name to save etc...

3: Sample using the Keyboard Sampler. Go to 'Settings' (when you have a keyboard up) scroll to bottom of window and the create a 'New Zone'. If you want to use the sample over the entire keyboard range then leave the zone at the default C2-G8. Press the 'Record Sample' button that appears after you create the zone.

The only drawback I find is that you have to leave about a second at the end of your recording before you press stop recording, otherwise the last bit of your sample is cut off.

The quality is superb with this mic and you should not hesitate buying one as it works really well. If I can help further let me know.

    Hi,

We can confirm that both the iRig Mic and iRig Plug adapter work great with BeatMaker 2.

    Cheers,

Can you use the irig guitar adapter to plug a microphone into it? because i already have a microphone, i just cant plug it into the phone because of the 1/4 connector

Ah! Yes I tried that too! Bought an iRig first but, it did not work for me but I was using a crappy mic. So I bit the bullet and bought the iRig Mic which is brilliant. I would ask that question in an iRig forum
