One feature that should be easy is more Skins, just so I can have a Red, Black and White theme.
Better Midi Learn, I want to plug in my Keyboard or Trigger Finger and it will work.
Also velocity sensitivity , If GB can do it ,BeatMaker 2 can do it better!!!

An updated beatpack application that allows comprehensive kit/patch/fx/ etc editing and file transfer.

a real file system that isn't a huge puked out mess of various files in various places...

I'm sure it's been mentioned before but I would really like to be able to select multiple samples to load at once onto the drum kit.

What I'd really like is an ETA

My Wishlist:
1) To edit values by typing. For example, touch the pan knob, the keypad pops up,then you can enter a value like -15. It makes the editing faster and more precise.
2) Audio tracks.
3) When using a midi controller, you should be able to record from the sequence page, not just the instrument or drum machine you're about to sequence.
4) SUSTAIN PEDAL!!!!!!
5) Sequence editing more like computer DAW's. You can make fast and precise edits by typing in an edit region and destination. For example, Copy tracks x-x from bars x-x to bar x and repeat x times.
6) Load multiple samples, automatic pad and key mapping.

Updated wants/needs

1. A convolution reverb on master bus.
2. 100mm faders on non portrait view.
3. Psuedo velocity
4. Custom tunings and scales
5. Audio tracks with freeze and the ability to use the busses
6. Wifi collaborative fileswap of user files and songs
7. A synthesizer for anything from pads to drums (fm,subtractive, wavetable, sample, granular)
8. Internal resample and pad placement
9. A mastering multiband compressor with brickwall limiter
10. The ability to save effects presets
11. An eq like psp or logic...not the stupid slider type!
12. And if nothing else cool...a better way of handling files...cuz what we have is aweful

Hi!

I would like to see a performance mixer where I could assign parameters from different fx or instruments on on page.

Thanks for listening!
• edited 12:09AM
I'd like to work with Waveforms in the Sample Synth too.
Setting start point / looping points and decay from loop end point.
That would be lovely!

LOOP TOGGLE in the drum machine is a feature that definitely needs to be in the next update of beat maker!

I just bought beat maker and was hoping on using it live with a drum pad to trigger loops and drum samples. As you know, there's no way to HOLD a note on a drum pad, so HOLD + LOOP does me know good. I need a way to start a loop by hitting the corresponding pad, then have it continue LOOPING until I hit that same pad. Thereby TOGGLING the LOOP on and off. In my opinion, this is the only thing holding this product back from being truly awesome for live use.

Great product otherwise

I want to be able to record poly-pressure.

It would be great if your keyboard and drum pads were both Velocity and position sensitive. Look at Garage Band's keyboard as an example of what an on-screen keyboard can do.

P.s

There is an app for android called caustic that supports such a synth called a sub synth the app has this feature..that's the kinda thing I'm suggestion take a peek at it am sure this would benefit bm2 developers ....that is all ........again lol.....

The filter envelope is producing weird results, if any results at all. I would like that to work like it should. That is for me critical.
I'd love audio tracks, but I think thats already in the pipeline from what I read in a previous post.

Bm is killing it! s/o for the next update. mind blowing!
• edited 12:09AM
Great app.... From my point of view, and at this price point, please don't add a bunch of bloating features. The strength of BM2 is the quick response, and the app is generally very light on its feet. BM2 already has most of the tools we need to dump our compositions into Protools or whatever Daw.
I agree we need audio tracks, but I don't have any use for side chaining, convolution reverbs and crap like that in BM2.... This is all based on the superior app pricing and stellar performance on the new iPad... Why ruin a good thing by trying to add every single feature that everyone wants? That's how avid nearly ruined protools- listening to hobbyists who don't have the basic sense to keep their files organized, and who need to pitch correct everything...
Anyway I digress...
The only improvement fx wise would be an improved EQ and compressor.. Not a mastering style compressor either, just a nice tracking style compressor.
• edited 12:09AM
Dammit, almost forgot... Would it be possible to have a midi learn feature for the BM2 interface? Either that or an extremely detailed midi implementation chart(I know you do have some functions in the manual)... Like how can I make the record button work controlling from the mpd32?

We love BM2!!!!!

MicGee, you're the annoying joke around here. Trust me.

Btw, Intua. Is there a feature list and aprox. release date on the next version?
• edited June 2012
Loving BM2 more every day!
A couple of sugestions, and I am sorry if these have been mentioned-

Are iOS devices ready for 24 bit audio? I can live with 44.1 (usually use 48k) but 24 bit export would make it better down the line. In fact can we just have 48k/24bit capabilities? There- I said it!

On exporting- a crucial feature in my book.... Lets say we have a drum machine setup mpc live style,(drums, instrument samples on the same drum machine) When we have an inspired performance there is one midi sequence with all of the data on it. Would it be possible to split the sequence by note for export? Or even easier- when we assign a pad to an fx bus, that pad would export to its own file. (and allow us to name fx busses)

What about a gain process where the fades and normalize is. Working with vinyl there can be clicks that fool the normalizer... A simple gain where it shows peak level of the audio and you choose the gain in db?

As far as fx go, autopan gets a lot of use here, we need a better compressor (possibly with visual feedback), a brick wall limiter, EQ needs work, reverb is usable but not for every situation. On that note, (and this is just me), the fx we need in BM2 don't have to be mastering quality... Meaning please don't fall into the trap of bogging down the app for the sake of a few fx. The processing power of ios devices is there, but it's not there to the point of being all things daw.... I know about the Auria app, and while it will certainly raise the bar, it will also be the app to bring the (current)iPad to its knees
For those of us with an iPhone and an iPad, how crazy would it be to be able to edit fx from the phone so the fx don't take up the whole screen on the pad?

And lastly, the file system is a bit sketchy... Maybe have something in the vein of what protools does with files- all in one place all of the time. They make you create and save a session before you even play a note!

Is the next update coming soon? Can't wait!
• edited 12:09AM
I think automation in the sequencer is so easy that autopan is never something i use...

I think the reverb is terrible...as it produces no verb until the last 20% of the wet signal, and then it really goes there...useless for my use.

The eq? Why are we stuck with a 1980's radioshack gui, give me a real eq...look at the track eq in logic pro...it will be way more useful...and way more touch friendly!

Bitcrusher...nice, could use a filter and maybe some cabinet sim.
Overdrive...it does what it says
Delay...its okay, but needs a filter and more options
Filter...needs more kinds

Beatmaker2 needs resample to pad or keys more than any other feature period!

Ideas:
Eq 7 bands....controllable q width, lp and hp modes, 6,12,24,48 slopes...shelf, bell
A creative rhythmic gater! Wow this would be killer!
Filter with 16 step/swing gate seq...lp,hp,bp,comb,notch,resonance
Ir reverb...because it can be done...and it has other purposes, let samples be used as irs...!
Bitcrusher...filter, noise gen, bitrate, amp, freq
Compressor
Limiter (brickwall...as previously stated)
Distortion modeler
Wah
Pitch shifter w formant
Phaser
Chorus
Flanger
Tape bpm delay multitap
And yo save effects presets?

Refill type packaging of files SONG CONTAINER(sequence, efx pre's, samples)

Audio tracks

Resample to pads

Ohhhhh i think people will agree...touchable zones and keys when assigning keyboard samples!

Better dropbox integration

Wifi or bluetooth data transfer to others?

Some kind of velocity? Up and down on pads and keys? A ribbon i can play...something, cuz going thru a whole song and editing this sucks

And yea, when is the update...lol

Anubis...if i annoy you, foe me. I could care less what you think, and the person anyone should trust least is one who reassures you to do so. Besides i dont see what could be so annoying... I ask for features... If they get added...you'll get them too.

I dont know what it is that you post thats so interesting? Is there something? I dont recall anything you have posted being interesting in the least, maybe i'll go thru the forum and read your posts.

I keep the shit real... I am hardly annoyed by a forum post, until it directly attacks me.
Now ima go see what all great awesome shit ou have posted.

I have read every post...
I did like one post you made...the turning a sample down on a pad using the xgroup to cut off others in same x group...quite clever actually

Still you can ignore me, no loss...at all

To be honest I don't care if the reverb or eq isn't top notch. I use BM2 as a sketchpad and export the tracks without these effects and use Logic for mixdown and apply eq, reverb, compression there. Experimental fx are more useful for me.
But as I've already mentioned, the sampler's filter envelope is way off and need a fix. That and audiotracks would go a long way for me .

I have to add one more thing.. the scrolling in the sequencer when resizing/moving a clip/notes is too sensitive. It starts to scroll almost right away so I usually end up having to scroll back and forward to find the right pos/length. It would be better if it started to scroll when you're almost at the right edge.

i want to be able to hear/play just a certain part of a sequence.

For example. I have a 16 bar drum loop and on the 8th bar i add piano roll. I just want to hear this 8th bar with the piano roll, not have to wait for the first 7 bars to play till it gets to the 8th.

Is there a way to do this? and not have to reset loop points?

+ 1 here, I think this is really crucial!
