note on/off toggle mode

edited October 2011 in Support
as a live performer, i love to trigger loops live with my midi keyboard. is there any chance of a note on/off toggle feature to be built intothe future midi functionality of bm2? or will sustain (cc64) be supported down the road also? im tired of literally taping down my keys with duck-tape to achieve this effect ...

likewise it would be cool if thepads or sampler had a hold mode that - if you tapped the key or pad once - it would just hold down the note. and onsecond tap it would unhold the key or pad... this would be excellent for jamming with loops live on the fly! just an idea for future bm2 coolness...

also im new to this app so if theres a way to do any of this already within bm2 id love to know how!

in relation to this topic of sustain, this may or may not be useful but a friend of mine showed me an easter-egg trick in bm2 that allows you to hold notes on the drum pads indefinitely:

    1. add a sample to a drum machine pad and set it's trigger behavior to "loop+hold"
    2. tap+hold on the pad(don't let off until step 5)
    3. while holding on the pad, tap the home icon in the top left, bringing up the project menu
    4. click on mixer icon (i think any of the main top icons will make this work too)
    5. once the mixer view opens, let off the drum pad and viola - the sound will sustain forever letting you tweak effects, or jam along to it with one of the samplers. you can even do things like record samples/edit while this loop is going on.

note - if you want to stop that sample from playing, just go back into the drum machine and tap once on that sample and it will turn it off.

also i tried this with the sampler and it works too - but only if you tap on the information button (i) in the top right of the project menu. also the sampler won't hold notes like the drum machine as you browse around in the various views of bm2..

but still, pretty rad for those artists who wish to do something a little different with bm2 - i hope the developers never remove this feature (or at least replace it with a special 'hold' toggle button)

    Hi,

Nice, you actually found a "feature" out of a bug. We'll have to fix it though, and maybe add a special Toggle mode to the pads.

    Cheers,

    Hi both,

thats a funny easter egg trick. Maybe think about a latch mode for pads and keyboard that supports noterepeat

    1. hit noterepeat set quantize lets say to 1/8th notes

    2. select one or multiple drum pads or keyboard notes or chords

    3. hit latch button to continue playing the selected

now if one could repeat this with different quantize/note repeat settings it would be like an arpeggiator? Could layer different latched sounds and chords drums and keys. IF YOU DO THIS DO NOT FORGET MIDI LEARN FOR NOTE REPEAT AND LATCH BUTTONS ! i would love to map note repeat to my MPD32

Thumbs Up if you think Native Instruments are lurking here and looking for new ideas !!

shit i probably shouldnt have pointed it out since you want to remove it now - and now im using it allot during live performancs! @colin do you mind putting this fix at the bottom of your list - or at least let me know if the fix is in the next update so i dont install it!
