Sounds awesome, but I don't get it why nobody replies on twitter about that damn App Store submit date.

Is it going to be this month? This year? I'm going nuts checking for updates every single day. Just make an official announcement: "This Month!" or "That Day" or "Spring 2012".

I'm going crazy trying to find a perfect MIDI sequencer for my Waldorf Blofeld. Although I found Genome and Meteor daw... none of them compare with the UI / UX of Beatmaker. I really love it.

Hi.

This release is in its second beta build.... Some bugs are being worked out... Very minor I must add... I'm guessing very little time until it comes out... It's better to have a very functional app in a few weeks than a not fully functional one right now, right?

Your patience will be rewarded.

You guys are going to absolutely go bananas over this release.

BTW... I really recommend all of you guys get an app by Audeonic called MidiBridge... You'll need it to connect some apps... Really worth every penny.
• edited 5:31AM
Don't tell me that I need MidiBridge because the next update doesn't support virtual midi?
• edited 5:31AM
It does. I've been beta testing... It has a virtual device... Midi in and out... It works fine...

But midibridge is great because you can further refine midi routings there... Also filter midi events... Which is a life saver.

For example: Sunrizer and Animoog do not allow to select incoming midi channel, nlog does.

If you want to control all three at the same time (on my ipad 2 has been possible) it becomes a problem, because you can select nlog's channel, but the other two get 2 sequences at the same time....

With midibridge you can filter the channel routing, so the problem dissapears...

It's not a matter of being a bm2 problem... Midi there is robust (trust me, I've stressed the system and looked for all possibilities).... The problem will arise when working with other apps...

Be warned... Midi (or virtual midi cabling) is not for the faint of heart... You will find many roadblocks with it untill you absolutely get the hang of it on ios (and bm2 for that matter)... But it is rewarding as hell... Midi bridge can and will help a lot.

I don't want it NOW, I just needed to know a rough estimate, so I don't check the App store like crazy every day.

I'll use an USB midi cable, so I won't have a problem. Man I think this update will be awesome. It already does what my *SOLD* Maschine did.
• Hi,

Once the application has been submitted to Apple, we'll let everybody know on the forums and twitter.

Cheers,
Colin
• So, has everyone pretty much given up (or not feel its worth it) on having an integrated Synth engine in BM2? If so, I'm assuming its because of BM2s 2.2 enchanced midi "connections" to other Synth apps? I understand you can hear the synths sounds (and Im assuming its synced) while running BM2, but still having to record it on another app is still not optimal right? Especially if you want your synth sound to switch during hook, verse, intro, outro, etc. That means we have to record in the synth tool multiple times for one song...
• edited 5:31AM
It would still prove amazing to one day have it... But it would only be one instrument... This virtual midi integration allows you to access plenty more...

I agree, it's still constrained to being able just to record small sections, then paste in bm2, put in a pad and sequence... Sandboxing is a pain in many ways... But it's getting better and better...

If audio tracks are sometime integrated in bm2's workflow, it will be an even major leap... And maybe then synth apps will be able to send the wav data thru sysex messages dirrectly to the audio tracks.

This new release really is a major leap forward though... I've been able to work on tracks to make them sound a lot more to what I'm used to on my regular DAW.

What I do love about bm2 is that, although some things are harder to achieve, this exact problem pushes me to work a lot with filter, pan, etc. automations... So you end up having a very original sound to what you do... It becomes a real craft, which is really nice.

this update solves about 99% of my problems. major props to the intua team, this might be the nail in the coffin for my mpc (or it may be relegated to just a midi controller). i just hope no new bugs are introduced =]

((synth))

I have mentioned this before...but I shall do so again.

The keyboard instrument in beatmaker is very very close to being a synthesizer...

Adding more parameters to the engine...and a second or even third oscillator would be a major thing...now if you can mod the mix of the oscillators...awesome...now allow moving the index point of the sample to be "scrubbed" in realtime with a lfo or controller etc...and you are getting superbadass.... More...well sure...now make the sample have realtime formant/time/pitch/granular and we now have this....

Subtractive, v analog, wavetable, formant, granular....synthesizers!
Not only that very powerful...extremely powerful...game changer actually!
I know. Cpu load...alchemy is a heavy synth and i can run it with beatmaker on...so i know this can be done...consider a freeze feature or a bounce instrument to audio track feature and bam! Cpu less cluttered.

The effects could go a long way as well...
Global convolusion reverb...switchable to on or off cpu load. Real or non realtime!
The eq really needs to have a graphic screen like the eq on logic...that just makes sense on a touchscreen! Locut, loshelf, band, band, band,hi shelf, hi cut
Amp simulator
Ring modulator
Tap delay
Seq effects like that orange roland groove effects thing...that ruled!
Ssl modelled eq/comp strip for great drums

See ya in the spring! Have a great holidays Intua!

Alchemy has a very wicked engine...and the full engine is runnng on the ipad...we just cant sample into it etc
• edited 5:31AM
Agree about Alchemy, the more I mess with it the more impressed I am. It joins the now several high quality instruments we have on the iPad.
• edited 5:31AM
Alchemy is bad ass, I hope by next year we get a high quality synth in BM. I would be happy to pay for that.
• edited 5:31AM
Just purchased Alchemy Pro & can't wait to hook it up to BM2.2!!!!

You're starting to compete with Ableton live

As of right now, unless there is something i dont know about...there is no way to master audio on ipad...

A 4 band compressor, and an 8-10 band eq with fft would be an excellent addition, that would be a serious need.

The effects in beatmaker2 are toyish...and not very useable on a pro level. Alot more is possible here. I also know from METEOR that track freeze is available. With freeze or in place offline bounce...it is possible to do big effects things without as much worry of crashing etc.

So please....
Add some effects (in app purchase .99 to 4.99) in app purchase?

Add track freeze...unless that is the process of stemming

Add resample output to pads...

Consider pitch detection on your keyboard instrument, and also it could become your synth!

Audio tracks are cool...but until there is better effects i dont think its going to be any more useful than just sampling vocs to a pad.

Also jus an idea...but i would rather touch a click point on a screen corner to move sequencer blocks and data, instead of the up down thing and the right left thing...kinda not a natural feeling method...even after this time i have used it.

Oh and the ability to save presets with preset names in the effects

For effects research maybe look at the awesome ladder filter from moog...
I think your sample editor could be a bit better too...i shouldnt have to go to hokusai for editing and copy back to bm2 all the time it gets old.

It also gets old externally processing just to use the compressor app or the fft app...and then coming back to a project...instead of during.

One needs to look at samplewiz or roland vsynth...to feel what it takes to make an unbeatable synth/sampler and see what could be done? The beauty of samplewiz is its ability to take one sample and make a pretty convincing instrument from it in modern mode...it also just becomes the epitome of sound design...which is kinda what beatmaker needs to do, but doesnt do. In beatmaker its kinda like your stuck with what you sampled other than chopping or using an lfo...and being the limited size of an ipad/iphone...16g,32g,64g, it just seems as if it would be better to build dope patches with a pitch/formant/time sampler instead of the conventional i need 10 samples to make one patch sampler.

In fact if samplewiz had a sequencer, you guys would not have a competeing product in the sampler area. Dont believe me, try samplewiz out...and then tell me there isnt way more possible with it as compared to either sampler you offer.

Beatmaker 2 is a very excellent program and i love it, i know some things i mention may not yet be possible, but i also know some things are possible...as they are happening in my vast collection of audio apps. I think also that Intua needs to charge for significant updates, as compensation is a great reward for all the hard work that goes into making such an app. I also beleive it is a motivator for more next version updates...when the beach vacation starts to sound good, then arrives version 3 and so on lol. You dont need to fix/add 20 things to have a worthy update...

I sorta feel like updates for beatmaker are quota driven...soon as we have 17 items we'll put out an update...so that much needed 1 item that a user needs gets bulked with 16 that are cool but not necessary. Making a user wait like 6 months for email sample support etc...lmao

ps...still want to arrange files without a daw, still want to add samples from email, will need to be able to open zips into filetree to do that....
