Is 120bpm default tempo for making your own samples?

I was thinkin it would be cool to record some bass lines. For example, I'd like to make a kit called "blues in E" so there'd be maybe 4 pads with different styles in the 1, 4 pads with different styles in the 4, 4 pads with different styles in the 5, and 4 different turnarounds.

So my question is, is there a sort of default tempo for samples that have a tempo

Nope, it's whatever tempo you make the samples at.
