core midi clock sync

edited November 2011 in Support
Hello to all,
I love this app but recently have come across some limitations.
I want to hook up several analogue midi instruments (sound modules, drum machines, etc.)
together with BM2. I bought a quite expensive midi box for this purpose (iconnectMidi) but BM2 does not seem to accept an external midi clock nor does it produce a midi clock, so I cannot sync my machines! This is an extremely important function and I find it strange that it is not discussed here. On the internet there is also very little about the issue, apparently the only apps that support core midi clock sync are; Modrum, Bassline, Molton Drum machine, and Funkbox! Please see this link;

We must get Intua and other companies to support core midi clock sync!!!!
I hope I am not alone on this and hope for an update soon that will resolve this issue, It would be a shame to see BM2 become obsolete because of problem that can be fixed quite easily.
Am I right or wrong???
Cheers
Lucas

I know per Intua that VM (Virtual MIDI) is coming the next update. Molten, and the others you listed, are VM instruments. There are not many apps that are, since it is a rather new development. I have Genome, a sequencer on iPad that uses VM. I find it rather hit and miss, mostly miss. It is just so finicky and time consuming to set up each time. The great hope I see coming in iOS music making is the use of AU's.

As far a sending an external clock (to devices outside of the iPhone/iPad) I don't know since I do not use any. THe only external device I use is a MIDI keyboard to input and there is no need for MIDI sync. I do know from the old days, that most external devices can be set up to receive MIDI clock from something else, so I would just set up the hardware device to receive and see what happens....

    Hello bremencole,
If BM2 cannot send or receive midi clock sync, then setting the external devices to receive
will not help since they won't be receiving anything from BM2. The point is to integrate BM2 into the flow so that it can be used with other midi devices and all of them synced together.
I play in a band with 5 other guys and we have samples, loops, drum machines, that need to be
in sync with each other. I don't know what Virtual Midi is but what I am talking about is
CORE MIDI CLOCK SYNC, which should not be difficult for intua to set up.
    Cheers,
    L.

    Guys,

I was thinking about this yesterday, http://www.idesignsound.com/apps/ios-audio/apps-that-support/apps-that-support-midi-clock-sync/ also lists apps that can send recieve midi clock.

Now midi clock should now be possible as BM2.2 is meant to support external midi? Id really be impressed if this was part of the 2.2. update, being able to route midi out of BM2 is a big achievement in itself.

I personally will not be using coz of a simple fact: BM is my mobile setup and the more I can do inside BM the less i need to carry other stuff around....

I would much rather prefer to see better Comp, EQ and Limiter and a Virtual Analog Synth

Also please speak to the guy at http://www.extranslator.com/ to allow us to convert patches to BM2

and last but not least - make sure the Virtual Analaog Synth can be enriched with layered patches from the keyboard sampler - 4 Parts of Oscillators or Samples

Ok maybe I was going too far on that one, imagine a JV1080 type engine in BM2 !!

As a new purchaser I will add my voice to this one. Midi clock in should be a standard in any sequencer app. This should include song start and position . This was basic stuff 30 years ago with midi. Now I do understand that core midi on Ios hasn't been around that long but still it should be a priority. The OMAC group is doing great things trying to standardise all of this.
