Music studio and garage band have better keyboard sound

edited April 2012 in General
Sound quality for keyboard is no good, hope you can fix it. With the current sound quality, making professional quality of music is impossible.

Ummm you are not serious right?
music studio sounds about as good as a casio keyboard...in fact its garbage... At least with a bit of fire under your ass you can build your own instruments on bm2's keyboard...

Garageband sounds good

Here lies you problem soundguy, music studio just sucks all the way to its terrible little core... I regret forever that i bought it. Garageband doesnt work with anything....no copy paste, no dropbox...so jam all ya like...hope ya like being stuck in that app. Neither allows for user sounds. (dont even try going to the gb sampler...thats a joke)

You want sounds...it only takes 3-5 samples to make a good one. Try being original and innovative. .

Making quality music can be done with a four track tape recorder, a guitar, and a vocalist...in fact some of the best music i have heard was done in similar manner.

No matter how quality the device...it wont compensate for your own inability

I have to agree on $Gee on that. It's a matter of your own knowledge and the way you apply it.

Music Studio, BM2 and FL Studio all have crappy instrument sounds, let's be honest. And GB does have copy/paste, great sounds but nothing else of note functionality wise. But BM2 has awesome drums and can sequence the audio in apps with better sounds.

I don't think Music Studio has awful sounds, they aren't Logic quality or anything, but they are def better than BM2 or FL for sure. I think Sampletank is the best for sounds, and from what i hear, there update this month is gonna be really big...more sounds, recording capability and drum pads.

I played around with the music studio demo and didn't like the limitations for sound creation. I thought musicstudio was over priced for what it offered and then I went and purchased fl mobile. What a stupid thing to have done, considering it was developed by the same team...reskinned...they may as well have called it musicstudio trance version. And gb, well i use it like a keyboard for organs (I love dem drawbars) and pianos. IMHO, it's worthless as a daw and i thought Apple needs to put some more effort into it. Btw Apple, a tape recorder isn't a sampler. Gb reminds me of Pages IOS, crippledware.

The one thing you can do with beatmaker is import your own samples and lo and behold...all of a sudden the sound quality is up to you. Amazing huh. Try that with ms or gb. Imaltai, just treat this app like the dirty, little sampler that it is. Don't be afraid, FTP some sounds into it, paste some stuff from other apps, use the mic to record, just open up some new horizons man. Then, get back to us, tell us what you think.

This is because its a pain in the ass to trade sound patches...
Intua left this shitty perhaps to gain a market for their own patches but those havent came to be either...so its one of the three major ass burners of beatmaker2

Garageband...has psuedo velocity using the ipad hardware (decent)

Native instruments has velocity using a velocity play screen (genius)

And animoog and samplewiz both use key finger position for vibrato and volume control (awesome)

Any of these three wuld be nice intua...i dont want to step edit until im ancient!

I fire any dev who thinks a static keyboard on a touchable gui is smart...
Go back to kindergarten and behold a configurable fucking keyboard...?
Does anyone at intua use beatmaker2, and if so do you own other apps? Like animoog?
Now tell me ...which playable interface is better...yours, or moogs? Tell me... FIX IT

Garageband isn't that bad...it can handle recording audio tracks quite well. Anything that can record audio tracks can potentially make awesome music (obviously) so long as you have some instruments and can play them. The instruments are probably some of the best on iOS, sound quality and playability-wise .

MusicStudio is actually pretty decent with the newest update. Sequencer works very nicely. Some of the sounds might a bit 'casio' but you can still work with them...maybe just need to be a bit creative with your sequencing and effects Instruments might not be the best quality but it has over 50...and overall the quality is much better than built in BM2 sounds IMO.

One thing to remember is.... even the apps that you think are rubbish - there's people out there that can make extraordinary music with them, likely far better than the music you make on your favourite app. I always try to remember this and it keeps me humble Garageband has a sampler isntrument...it's not the most fully featured but you can sample all sorts of things (stuff around the house, sounds you make with your mouth, your dog)

That said I think the Daw/sequencer style apps I couldn't live without go in this order -

BM2 - NanoStudio (tied)
Garageband
Music Studio

Or -

Making quality music can be done with a four track tape recorder, a guitar, and a vocalist...in fact some of the best music i have heard was done in similar manner.

No matter how quality the device...it wont compensate for your own inability

Well said

Thank you.

Auria did not make its first quarter submission, let alone being available by q1! There must be an issue?

Garageband sounds fantastic to record vocals to...the way it bounces tracks is terrible, the way you cant punch in, in areas is aweful...or the sections cant be redefined...blah.

If auria can do 48 tracks of audio, and use plug in effects in fairly high numbers...i keep wondering how wavemachinelabs can do this but apples own designers cant? Importing to and exporting from gb on ipad is one of the worse experiences i have ever had to date... Apple is pompous obviously and does not incorporate the tech of others in their software...like copy and paste or dropbox...that sampler in gb is just about the dumbest sampler period...it is beyond highly unimpressive.

Sorry but gb is a fail...and really it shouldnt be...but it is, too many basic needs are not met.

Its amazing what i believe is stopping the progress of ios music pro apps is exactly this...
The devs are not cooperating, the big companies are clueless, the small companies are innovating the best ios products...whilst the big bois just choke on the smoke.

1. Closing your doors to outside sounds....bad move, if you are a badass sound designer, what are you afraid of? Surely not my user libraries?

2. Not adopting staple features...copy paste board, dropbox, soundcloud

3. Apples omission of filetree useage on the ipad? Why cant I manage files, why must I do everything by hooking up to my computer at home and taking a risk of wiping all my apps and data again? Syncing the ipad is a scary issue.... Im not very happy to have to do it. You didnt cut the cord apple...in fact it seems like now that you've anounced that i have to hook up even more...wtf? The ipad has been out for a while now, we should have a model with the ram bottleneck fixed...and one that can use removeable user configurable files! So i can back my shit up, so my imac wont eat it...and my irreplaceable data!

The next intua update could prove to be a gamechanger...but it remains to be seen
